Is an automatic transmission dust cover needed?

Maybe I should just cut it in half for the best of both worlds LOL

I run one support Bracket as Headers in the way , And with the Dust Shield I drill 20mm Holes in it So there is more air Circulation , and also its enough to keep rocks out

Never me, I run em because they are there for a reason.
