Is SC or GA more car hobby friendly?

Great song and lyrics!!!! lol Yep SE Texas is ain't West Tx, but I will say the county here, San Jacinto Co. has only 1 traffic light..
LOL. I thought you would like that barbee!!! That video could be about 95% of the people that work at the cotton mill where I work. When I first took over the cleaning contract there I was walking around and in the corners of the a hallway was a bunch of gunk. I asked the supervisor what is was and he said.........tobacco spit, eeewwww. Of course there is a sign in the hallway that says "No spitting"!!
The stepson age 27, has 2 ag degrees, and has a mouth full of snuff where he talks and does not move his mouth!!!!! I can not understand a damn thing he says. Nasty chit!

So here's what I learned so far:
1] Georgia is probably more car hobby friendly
2] There can or maybe not be an Ad Valorem Tax on older cars but there will be a birthday tax
3] Keep ahold of my titles because GA really doesn't need or want them.
4] Grits need help. Maybe kethcup?
5] I better start watching more fishin shows or gator wrastlin' and taking notes otherwise I'm gonna stick out like a sore thumb.
6] And lastly - no one lives in SC or can comment on their car hobby because it's a secret how bad I'll get screwed with a vehicle property tax on 6 cars.

I will venture to say way more people move into Ga than SC, 98% up in North Ga. area. Realize this, the native Southern talks slower, generally is not in as big a hurry, loyal to the South, treat women well, is the head of the house ( generally). Just be a genuine person and you will learn to blend into the South. No you will not change it so don't even try.
There is Atlanta and then there is Ga.
There is North Ga and there is South Ga.
Back I the 90's I had the urge to move back South and start a boneyard like Ted Stephens. I knew there were stilll ots of good Mopars to be had cheap in SC back then, and I spent a week looking into it. I found the state law ( maybe different now), said if a yard sold it would revert back to being ag land, NO boneyard. I decided too much BS to even want to start a new yard. I bet IF I was important , I could have got the OK, but I am a nobody.
Now it is hard being back in the Deep South of SE Texas. I lived in Missouri 39 years without all this humidity and some good wind about every day!

It can be inconsistent as my 73 Duster/71 Demon/72 Charger I only pay tag renew each year (so $20 or something a year). All three I had titles and got GA titles back for all three when registering.
However when I registered my 70 Dart without a title I did have to pay the yearly birthday tax with tag renewal.

My experience is if you have titles you will get new titles. I have been told to by the lady at the tag office as long as you have a title they will issue a title. Some people have told me if the car is pre-1960 or whatever they may not but I have not personally tested that as my cars are all from the 70's.

Was a couple years ago when I was trying to see my Dart without a title and NC/SC stayed stuck in my mind that you have to have titles to register and they didn't offer a exception like GA/AL will to register even without titles.
Also someone mentioned emissions in GA and that effects the counties around downtown. So if you are closer to SC you would not have to worry about yearly emissions.

But if its all in fun I'd love to talk to you about the local car scene and the area in general.

We're smack in the middle of the Nascar thoroughfare between Charlotte and Atlanta, only 45m to an hour to the mountains, 4 hr to the beaches, ton's of local car shows yearly, but most entertaining
of all is the county fairs. Imagine seein' those folks that only come outa the hills once a year.. quite a sight
Just be careful if they use yellow BBQ sauce!!! Just don't complain about the humidity and if it snows a 1/4 inch, just stay home for an hour till it melts!! hhahhaha

Yeah, I know. You all from GA helped me out with a lot of answers while the SC guys kept quiet. I met a car guy in SC a few weeks ago and he told me old cars in his county get assessed $17 a year. That's allright by me.Traitor!

[/QUOTE]I can imagine. There's a few county fairs around here that are like our own little slice of West Virginia with bearded ladies and all.
I did a lot of research on the area. The humidity is nowhere near what we have in Pittsburgh. You guys have twice as many sunny days. And the lack of snow and extreme cold is very appealing.

If you and your family have the right mindset, you will fit in fine. Just remember there is Atlanta and the "rest" of the state. Also realize the Civil War never really ended, just delayed awhile due to lack of cannon balls and grits!! Also be advised the South moves a little slower ( except Atlanta) and marches to the beat of its own drum.
I was raised in rural SW Ga farming county. I mean very rural. I moved to Missouri in '79 at age 31 and lived there for 37 years before coming to Tx. . It was a border state so being from the South I did well living in SW Mo but was on the line in NW Mo. but I adapted. Only once did a guy want to whip my *** for being Southern.

Barbee6043 - I'm not too concerned about fitting in. We do get odd looks in a restaurant when we put french fries on our chef or steak salad. It'll be hard to go from yinz to yall and remember if there's ice on the road it will be slippery and not slippy.

No kiddin? I have family in Clemson. My Uncle served as interim Dean at Clemson University for a time. He was head of the economics department for a very long time.
