is there a difference between 6 cly and v8 manual pedal assemblies?

Yes, there are three different assemblies. They are 6cyl., v8 and heavy duty v8. Basically- light duty, medium duty and heavy duty. They all interchange but were matched to the engine/clutch in the car. Mine, '68 cuda 383, is the heavy duty where the swing pedals ride on bearings not bushings and the over-center spring is heavier with additional bracing.
 
Doesn't the HD ones have an extra brace? I know 340 cars got the HD setup.
What is the difference between /6 and V8?
 
Yes, extra brace on the heavy duty to hold the heavier spring. I believe the 6cyl pedals have an even lighter spring and attachment, while the pedals themselves are the same.
 
Oldmanmopar did a post on this. The 340 cars (maybe 360 too?) had a slightly longer throw and were heavier made
 
I have done some investigation to try to understand the difference between the different A-body pedal sets.
I conclusion that I have come up with is that there were two different assemblies.
In 1969 the parts manual shows 4 different part numbers for the A-body overcenter spring.
- 6 Cyl Std. #2266784
- 6 Cyl Heavy Duty #2461515
- 8 Cyl Except 273 #2883468
- 8 Cyl 273 #2461515

It also shows two different clutch pedal parts numbers.
- 6 Cyl #2781145
- 8 Cyl #2883457

The 6 Cyl clutch pedal used 2 pivot bushings #2467770
The 8 Cyl clutch pedal used 2 pivot bearings #2883462

The picture posted, I believe came from someone here on this site.
The top set I would call the light duty one.
The bottom set I would call the heavy duty one.

Btw the bearings can be bought .I changed them on my 69 383. So if you have the bushing you can change over to bearings!
 
Good info here. Actually there are only 3 springs. /6 HD and 273 both use the 2461515 spring.

the strength of the overcenter spring and the bushing / bearing is the difference between the 6 and 8 cylinder versions.
the length of the throw is the same,, is that correct?

When comparing the two, there is a 3/4" difference in the length between pin where the upper clutch rod attaches and the pin where the overcenter spring attaches.

How can you convert plastic bushings to bearings when the thickness of bearings is much greater?
 
his picture shows that the pedal ratios are different. Do not try to use the slanty pedal with a 3-finger clutch, the effort will be much too high.
I think it could do well tho with a diaphragm-type clutch.

I have to disagree. I have 2 clutch pedal assemblies that both came from 1970 H code Dusters. Both are 5 1/4 center to center and both have the large over center spring.
