Got this flywheel with a used manual setup. It had some surface rust when I bought it, so I didn’t count it as a usable part of the package, but they included it. I soaked it in some vinegar and found what it looks like. I noticed a bunch of cracks where the clutch engages. Are these cracks a problem?

The machine shop I use can surface it. I just wasn’t sure if those cracks immediately meant it was a goner.
Naw, they'll probably turn out and even if all of um don't, I'd still use it.

How do you intend to use it? Like is it going on a low rpm truck motor or a high rpm race engine?

I agree, it will most likely machine out but even if it does not, it definitely is NOT toast. Toast would have molded, not rusted.

How much is that thing spinning at 6K RPM? Food for thought before running without a scatter shield less than 6 inches from your legs….

Thanks everyone. Originally, I was going to use this in a mild street application, but I think I'm changing directions and sticking with auto. I was pulling everything out to clean it up and sell.

And yes, there's a scatter shield here I was going to use.
