I worked on a fair amount of vehicles in my part time job at NAS Miramar, 70-74. So "I saw" a fair amount of "rebuilts"---starters, generators/ alternators, carbs, distributors, and master cylinders. In 74 when I was discharged I started what would turn out to be a (misguided) "career" of 15 years selling auto parts. In that time I got to see MORE "rebuilts" including water pumps. Sooner or later ALL of them come up with defects.......poor quality control, wrong parts, damaged, won't fit or work no matter what.
Rebuilts have ALWAYS been a crap shoot.
