Nah, steaks have their place and I love them too, but an Italian Beef is an experience all it's own:D

Both look delicous!!

My father in law is a cattle rancher so my wife and I always have a huge meat freezer full of delicous beef ( though he does get pretty stingey when it comes to handin out steaks :D )

I striped an early antique Norton motorcycle for a guy who was doing the commercial for A1 steak sauce, the " is it done " commercial. He was so thrilled with the outcome and as a tip he gave me ten pounds of the finest melt in your mouth steaks I've eaten in a long time. Unfortunately that was some time ago. believe it or not but living in southern Oregon, its very hard to find great meat unless I shop in Redding California where I can get Harris Ranch meats.

I went to Chicago last summer and was turned on to the magic that is Italian beef sammichs!!!!

I found a recipe on line to make them at home, and they turned out pretty good too.

Italian beef recipe

Cooked it in the crockpot. Let it cool then sliced it thin and put it back in the crockpot with all the juices and drippings!!! Don't forget both kinds of peppers!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Italian beef sandwiches and deep dish pizza in Chicago
Cheesesteaks in Philly
Regional BBQ in North Carolina, Kansas City, and Texas
Chowder in Boston
Cajun and Creole in Louisiana
Seafood anywhere in the Gulf states

Regional specialty foods is one of the great things I used to love about travelling for work. Had some great stuff over the years.

I really should have waited untill after lunch to open this thread. It's like pornography.

Thanks for that! We'll have to give it a try. It's hard to find a good beef sandwich in Phoenix:( There's one place that does them perfect, but I hardly find myself in the area these days.

Damn I have to fast for blood draw in the morning and I opened this thread.
I am getting something tasty after the blood is drawn for sure.

ab7, There's an Al's and Luke's Italian Beef in Scottsdale within blocks of each other. Authentic Chicago style sandwiches finally!! We alternate between them....yum

I like to order mine w/ a side of au jus that I bring home for the pups :grommit:

I live over an hour from there and never find myself in the neighborhood:(

Lukes was my favorite place to go for beefs in the Chicago suburbs. I used to go to their Palatine location which was right up the street from the 53 Drive In Theatre. I tried the Lukes on Indian School in Phoenix a couple times and it just wasn't the same.:(

There is a great Chicago Style restaurant at Bell Rd and I-17 which is about as far East as I get these days. Can't remember the name... It's something kind of weird like Burger Mania or something of the sort.

philly cheese steak!

Equally delicious. I buy a small rib eye roast and put it in the freezer for 30 minutes. Then slice it thin and grill them up with onions and cheese. But that should be another thread altogether!!!

Ahhhh. I haven't had a good IB sammich since I left Chi town 17 years ago. I did finally find a place here that sells Veinna beef hot dogs with the bright green relish though. The pizza sucks here too.
