are you going to be using the single groove water pump/crank pulleys?
Not sure yet I have a ton of bodywork yet to do before I start on the motor.

^^^ very offensive to some ^^^^ There was a thread that claimed the 273 commando ran low 16's in a early A-body........

When it was together...........

Bought the car a sick 273 and equally sick 904.........

Bought a junkue van 360, 727

And using the hoist, trailer, and Farmall, dropped the engine /trans out the bottom

Ran the engine trans for a bit, turned out to have been "overhauled" by someone who didn't know or maybe care. Ended up knocking a rod. The rods had been "looked like" they had been honed with an engine hone on the big end

So I bought a 318 for 200 bucks, guy said it was "low miles." IT WAS!!! Ran it a week to make sure it was OK, then tore it down and put the Edelbrock and little more cam in there. The old cam and drive looked like it had less than 20K on the engine!!! Ran that until I tore the car down for paint. Had "the small" performer, headers, and a cam just a bit smaller than a stock 340. Holley TBI converted from Holley Commander 950 eventually to Holley HP computer. Other than cam and intake engine was absolutely stock.

I had a leaking head gasket, so I was FORCED to replace the following stuff! Those $15 head gaskets can get expensive!

New...
Lunati 10200701 cam and appropriate springs
Cloyes double roller timing chain
Aluminum timing chain cover
Harmonic damper

Used...
302 heads
Edelbrock Performer intake
Holley 4160 600 CFM carb

Cam goes in tomorrow after work and gets degreed.

Intake carb and heads were used, so saved some cash there...
Timing chain cover was like $60 on Jegs, vs the insane amount they wanted on summit.
A 48 year old harmonic damper just ain't cool, that rubber looked like a dried out cat turd.

PLUS break in oil, oil for after the break in, filters, and a shitload of gaskets.

Special 318 Day thanks go out to Bad Sport, 72BluNBlu, Halifaxhops and Doug Dutra for the help and parts to get this 318 built and up and running. Well, it'll be running again soon =) More thanks to everyone else here too. These forums are a lifesaver.
