Remember James Cecil Webb today, Dec. 7th.
His remains were exhumed from the USS Oklahoma a few years ago and his identity was confirmed. It took several years but he was finally released for burial last year.
He was from my small community in Oklahoma and had but a few distant relatives still living. They could have had him buried at any National Cemetery of their choice including Arlington and Pearl Harbor, where he was killed.
They wanted him buried in our little community cemetery but didn’t have an extra plot. My Dad is the keeper at the cemetery and donated one of his personal plots.
James Cecil Webb is buried next to my brother who is a 2xPurple Heart recipient Veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq. He died of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head one day before Veteran’s Day last year.
May you both Rest In Peace.
