Just got caught in major rain, no power after I turned car off

I'm no electrical expert by a long shot and you have done everything I would have so I can't help much there. BUT don't let this experience turn your dart into a trailer queen. Too many guys throw a fit when their cars get wet. Drive your car whenever you want to.
 
Apparently the rain had nothing to do with the failure. Wires melting to headers is nothing new rain or shine.
 
Yep, just a strange coincedence. Time to do the AMP gauge bypass, repair/improve what I found and put some more miles on it until the snow flies. I REALLY appreciate all the help and input, it helped a lot with both information and motivation.
 
Pardon me for repeating this ... The fusible link did exactly what it was supposed to do. Repairs needed are right where they are supposed to be. To alter the factory design could possibly move or extend the damage to under dash wiring.
