My Dad used to have a 77 B200 3/4 ton conversion van....... the medium length size. Came with a 318-2bbl.
We installed a re-ringed mid-70’s 360, 1.88 360 heads, std Performer, Holley 600vs, headers.
Ran the stock converter(used a weighted flex plate), 3.23 gears, L60/15 rear tires.
Towed a 3700lb 79 Córdoba on a 1300lb open trailer all around the hills in New England to various drag strips for years. Plenty of power.
Oh yeh...... used a pointy nose Comp 268H in it.
One day at the track there was some issue with the car that was discovered before the first time run was even made.
I don’t recall what it was, but the car wasn’t getting raced that day.
Unhooks the trailer from the van, ran it in the street class.
Went 15.60’s.
Poor flowing small valves stock heads get the big split. That’s it.The fact is, most(all? I didn’t really scrutinize them all) of the cams recommended in this thread would work fine.
I have only used the Crane 272 and 278 cams a few times, and I liked other grinds better...... so didn’t go back to the Cranes.
They worked well enough, but I felt there was a little “something” left on the table(no back to back testing at all though).
I’m not usually in the “12 extra degrees of exhaust duration” camp with Mopar stuff........ and rarely go for the 112-114lsa unless it’s for something specific, that doesn’t pertain to making more power.
And choked off exhaust manifolds.Poor flowing small valves stock heads get the big split. That’s it.
Sounds like another good choice.Hi there I asked how to choose a cam for a lo comp 360 ended up with a Racer Brown cam EH-71 262 , .450 lift ,214 intake 105,exhaust 111,lobe separation 108. Intake open 2.0 BTC. Close 32.0 ABC
Exhaust open 38.0. Close -4.0. ATC
Spring pres. Seat 115+. Open 270-280
Lots of torque and surprising good gas mileage very happy with it and not bad price my 2 cents forgot to add single pattern he said do not want more duration on exhaust I don’t have enough compression or high enough rpms to use more if I did more exhaust it would hurt your torque, this is a mopar lobe so fast open and a little slower on the close he did offer one other cam 220 with .450 lift and lad of 110 but with some drivability issues the one I got he said would be more of seat of the pants power .
No reason why not!will the 693901 crane work with the comp 901 springs?

Yeah, once it comes out, it usually doesn't come back. I'm hoping some of mine will come back, but I'm just lying to myself. My hair is gone like my sanity.
...but did you ever have sanity? ....and if so, just how LOG ago?
I preach on it a lot but I think here it will be a great fit. The Crane "magic" cam.

This is an effective choice, but I'm not wild about the wide LSA for the OP's application. I have personally run the MoPar Purple 260/268 .430/.450" 110LSA in a 360 and LOVED it (don't believe the published .050" duration figures, either!). A cheaper single-pattern alternative is the old Cam Dynamics "Energizer" 272, still sold my Crane and also available "white box" from Summit. 272*/216*/.454"/110LSA. Used in a 318 it's fairly rowdy, a 360 should love it. My .02c worth.
Nope, it's what I had in Red&White, 3/4 ton tow beast, lol. The grey truck (1/2 ton, A833 O/D) has a 270S solid, 224*@.050" VERY MANLY-lol !!!

Poor red and white. I miss that truck.
Remember that BTK-like guy we got the MONACHO from? We took R&W up there on the hottest day in modern history and it got the job done while keeping us cool! I think we drove UP Moneagle with the empty trailer!! LOL. I still haven't torn that dead 360 down..
