Just Weighed My Barracuda Notchback For The First Time

-
Keep in mind that most of those over-the-road scales and landfill scales are in 20# increments.

That was a surprise to me when I learned that and it pissed me off.
I always weigh my cars with a FULL tank of gas because that is consistent. Over the years, I've used a few different places to weigh my cars, the most recent being a moving and storage facility. I'm not chasing the lowest weight but I like to know where I'm at with the cars. My red '70 Charger hasn't crossed 4000 lbs yet despite a 440, 18" wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, A/C, spare tire, full interior with sound deadening, stereo and heavy duty suspension for great handling. The car is all steel, not an inch of fiberglass anywhere though I'd sure love to get a fiberglass hood for it.

It has gone between 3940-3980 over the last 10 years with changes like 5 speed manual transmission, bigger brakes and A/C.
This car......

Essentially the same model but equipped a LOT different, weighed just over 3600 with no carpet or rear seat. It will gain weight as it gets "restored".

I JUST did this the other day too, 3350 lbs full of fuel, spare tire and jack. Magnum small block crate 402 (m1 intake, iron r/t heads), 727 auto, full length headers out the back exhaust, bucket console, factory ac car with all the interior guts intact none in the engine bay, power steering manual disc brakes, super heavy 15" Cragar’s

I figure centerlines, MT drag radials, no spare and 1/4 tank would be 3150 lbs. -ish. Which surprises me.

My 67 notch weighs 3400 lbs with a full tank of gas, without me in it. Manual steering, manual disc brakes, 360, aluminum intake, iron LAx heads, TTI step headers with 2 1/2 inch X-pipe exhaust system, radio and heater, no A/C, 727, 8 3/4 rear, 15x7 Cragars up front, 15x8s in the rear, bench seat, no console, spare tire and jack.

My '66 Polara came in at 4200 lbs when I weighed it at work. Our scale goes in 10 lb increments.

If I ever get an engine with some better HP, it would be fun to give some B bodies a run.

I finally got around to taking my car to a truck scale at the local grain elevator. It had about a third of a tank of gas in it and just a tad over 50 pounds of stuff in the trunk which I weighed after I got back from the scale since I forgot to empty the trunk before heading out. I was not in the car.
The car is a 67 Notch with a 340/416, 727, GV Overdrive and 8 3/4 with 3.73 gears. Wheels are steel Cragars with 295/55/15 on back and 155/80/15 on front. Iron heads, aluminum intake, Full exhaust with Doug's Headers, disc brakes up from, drums in the rear. No Power steering or brakes, no AC. I have high back bucket seats from a 73 duster, Bench rear and an automatic console. Full carpet with mass backing and lots of sound deadener as well as Lizard Skin sound deadener sprayed on the underside with sub frame connectors from US Cartool.
I tried to build it for cruising comfort as well as some good power for fun.
I think that pretty much covers what we're weighing here.

Weight came in at 3360 lbs minus the the 50 pounds of stuff in the trunk for a net weight of 3310 lbs without me in it.
Just wanted to share my actual real world results since i see numbers all over the place posted here. Scale was last certified in January of this year.
Cheers!

That is probably the best looking 67-69 Barracuda of any body style that I have ever seen! Great job of making your vision come to life!

Back when they had scales at Suffolk Raceway, I put my 1971 Duster on the scales and without me in it the weight was 3280 with 340, 4 speed, 8 3/4 rear, Lakewood scattershield, some homemade frame connectors and Keystone rims. My brother's 1972 Duster tipped the scales at 3200 with 340 and 727 automatic, same rear and rims but no frame connectors.
