I'm in the process of taking the /6 k frame out of my 73 Duster and need a little help. The motor's out of the car, and the steering is completely removed. What's the process for getting the k frame out? I undid the nuts on the torsion bars and the two on the bars that go from the lower control arm to k frame (not remembering the name off hand) and the 4 k frame bolts. What am I missing?
Thanks alot,
Jon

Also...it's a 73, but I don't have a sway bar. I can't remember right now if it has the bracket, but if it does someone must've taken the sway bar.

I am going to assume that the pitman arm is free'd up. Also disconnect the steering column. You have to remove the torsion bars and then there are four bolts that hold the K-frame to the sub-frame, 2 on each side. Loosen those and the whole front will drop out.

The steering column and box and pitman arm are all out of the car. It's the bar that goes from the LCA to the front of the K frame that's got me stuck. If I knew how to get those out I'd be in business.
Thanks,
Jon

Are you refering to the struts? If you are ,they will have a roll pin that you`ll have to drive out( on the threaded part of the strut) and then you can unbolt them from the k frame and the arms. Once that`s off you have to remove the nut from the lower control arm shaft and use a BMFH to knock them out. Don`t hit the shaft itself, just the arm. You should be home from there.Hope this helps.

Ditto on the strut rods. That's those skinny rods running from the lower control arms to the K-frame. Then, you need to take out the torsion bars. They have C-clips holding them in on the back side of the cross-member. Take out the clips and the torsion bars can be driven backwards out of their sockets in the lower control arms. The rubber dust seals can be popped off the front of the frame cross-member and then slid down the bars. Save and re-use them later (they are pricey for a new pair).

I got it out this morning. I was one bolt and the right tap with the hammer away from getting it right...but better to ask a question than screw something up.
Thanks alot,
Jon
