I have a 1971 Duster, the engine is out. I have a spool mount K-member ready to put in. I will be putting the duster up on jack stands on the frame, and will have the jack underneath the K-Member.

What order should I take everything off in order to free up the K-Member? Do I need any special tools to get anything off? Thanks.

Andrew

shocks - unbolt lower ball joints from spindles - remove or back out torsion bars -brackets to radiator support and fenders - 4 bolts holding k member in and it's out -

Pretty similar to how dodge71demon has it is how I did it. I backed out the torsion-bar adjusters first, pulled the torsion bars out, let the LCA sit on a jack until I got the UCAs unbolted, disconnected the brake lines, unhooked the steering shaft from the steering box, unbolted the UCAs from the car, then just took the four k-member bolts out.

I took the entire thing out as a unit and took it apart after.

Unless your changing your spindles at the same time save your self a lot of work and just unbolt the lower ball joints from the spindles
