It’s not what it used to be and competition makes it rough anymore. It’s hard to get out of staters to travel for a 1000.00 payout. Just an example it Quaker City has a 5000.00, 10,000.00, 5000.00 race the same weekend.

Hopefully the weather holds out for Saturday. In past years I would be there all weekend but just having a baby, I will only make it one day for this.

Is your car going to be ready ? are you going ?

No sure. Was on the phone today addressing three fraud charges on my account 4-5 hours and over an hour getting my Cpap account straightened out. Between no brakes on the motorhome, 90 degree hot humid weather, a few appointments, it will be close. Weather looks terrible for the weekend but you know how that goes.

Me and my Texas Race Car Buddy are actually getting ready to make a Trek back East to visit my Born and Raised Westchester County NY that I left in 78'.

With the storm off the coast coming in we probably won't leave till next week. We were hoping to take at least one night at a Drag Strip event along the way.
Any suggestions..North or South Carolina, Virginia, Jersey or Pa.

I’ll keep my eyes open. The NHRA race was just at Norwalk but I know local tracks will be starting their Night Of Fire shows. North and South Carolina have almost weekly outlaw type of racing going on. Let me no what type of race you are looking for. The Monster Mopar show is later this month at Norwalk Ohio and you would be hard pressed to find a better Mopar show.

Wichita international is having their big funny car drags this weekend.

Forget the NHRA as I know what they're about, We'd actually like to find a Track and Event that are fan friendly and don't require you to chill up in the bleachers (BS) which I hate as I like to be in the action!

I know it's all about liability but in Texas they don't trip and allow fans to get pretty close to the starting line, hell we generally chill on the wall just across from the Tree getting blasted with tire smoke, nitrous purge and Turbo exhaust blasts and mind you these are High Three Low 4 Second Pro Mods and Grudge cars...Hell Yeah!

Why, too cold?

117° at 6 p.m. here today........ in the shade.
a few hours in the sun would make a person medium rare and a slow boiled brain. no thanks

I Was going to come from Carlisle Saturday night , stay over and run the Sunday race but sounds like just another race with a few Mopars that show up. If it was a Mopars only event I would have attended.

We are blessed that there are always lots of Mopars at the races in Pa and Ohio. AJ can’t afford to pay out a 5000.00 purse that it would take to get out of staters in so he was forced to open it up to all makes. Even The one big race in Columbus is struggling now and soon all Mopar races except for monster Mopar will be gone.

I can understand that, for some reason with all the Mopars around only a few show up to race at Mopar events. I try every year to get people to come to the annual Mopar race at my home track but few show up. Even South Mountain had to open up their Friday evening Mopar race during Chryslers at Carlisle to all makes to get better turnout however there are a few Mopar only classes which I will be running my truck in two maybe three classes. With Chryslers at Carlisle being such a huge event it is so strange that out of all the cars there only a few show up to race. I went to the Mopar Nats once back in the 90s it stunk for racers and I never went back again, went to Keystone twice back in the mid 2000s for Mopar races and had a good time but then it was Mopars only. Being a Pittsburgh native it brings back memories going there I actually worked for a heavy equipment dealer in Monroeville for awhile right after I graduated high school.

I’m going to tell you something that will rock your boat. I have never been to Carlisle, never. Personally if I was running and putting on a Mopar race I would be running to Abodiesonly and Moparts and a few other Mopar websites and post about upcoming Mopar shows and racing. Did you see anything other than what I posted. A lot of Mopar racers that attend these shows only race Mopar events. That’s two maybe three races a year. At that point I would sell everything and get a Hellcat and go play once in awhile. These promoters think everyone has Facebook and they are wrong. I have it and would miss races if I didn’t but many avoid it like the plague.

I do post the annual Mopar race at my home track on For A bodies only, Moparts and Facebook. You are right about some people only racing once or twice a year. However I race my Dart just about every weekend and my truck occasionally... I enjoy Carlisle , walking the swap meet, showing my truck and especially racing Friday night. I have gone the last ten years or so with the exception of last year.

Are any of these big $$ races 1/4 mile?

Not the big money races. At keystone Saturday no box and box are 1/8 mile but there is also a Nostalgia Race and they always run 1/4 mile. There was talk last year of a possible 1000 foot big money race at Dragway 42.

I'd rather put Chevy and Fords on the trailer. Mopar event should be in the final round only.
I never liked two Mopar's matched up in the early rounds.
Some tracks do that to eliminate the few Mopar's at the event.
