Need some advice: I'm rebuilding my 727 and have a 2.8 KD lever. I've found there is a 5.0 available from mopar. Is this good to use, or will installing a shift kit make up for a 2.8? Just wondering what is the best one to use?

P.S.- this is street car, odd strip run, normal factory valve body and will have a shift kit.

Hi mda,

I'd use the 4.2 lever or the 3.8 lever. I'd stay away from the 5.0 lever as it can cause an overlap problem when the 2nd gear (front) band comes off for the 2-3 shift.

Hope this helps.

I've got a buddy that is a genius with 727's and he says to stay away from the 5.0 as well. like Duster says , go with the 4.2 or 3.8.
