i don't know, don't know where i'm going with this. people been getting to me lately.. a lot of customers and people stop by the shop and make comments like all the time must be nice to have what you have, must be nice to have a dad like yours, must be nice to be rich. etc etc. Saying i'm spoiled and blah. I work out of a 24 x 24 garage. I use the garage everyday for normal customers cars... i work on my old cars at night when i can push one inside when nothing is in the garage over night.

The cars i did get i paid for and did every bit of work my self, buying trading parts using other peoples junk to fix what was there and they all seemed to come together.. the cars that were given to me didn't come from good circumstances at all. My mom and dad had a nasty divorce when i was 17, tore the family apart and both parents went there own way. The cars i got because my mom said she didnt want half of them if they were going to me because the cars were where my heart was at. I sit here now with the cars i have and no family and no girlfriend after 3 years cause of w.e stupid reasons. did the best i could do. My brother is finally getting better, had problems with drugs since i've been 13-14. He had a kid i helped take care of. Finally getting him back to being right.

A new friend to me has a monte ss and 350 blew up, he took motor out and then took it apart couldn't get it back together right, he tried... hes 28 im 22. I told him bring it to my shop and a some pizza hut for dinner and i put the motor back together showing him stuff. Drop it back in the car one of these nights now. just to be nice.

I don't tell the people must be nice to have a brand new duramax, cummings or tahoe. A huge house and vacations all the time... I have my muscle cars for summer and come winter i drive a 97 escort.

I had someone offer me 15,000 for my 73 cuda and i turned him down quick as he said it. He said a kid like me shouldn't be in a car like that and no respect. If my dad trusted me enough to give me it i think i earned it. Ive been working in the garage for 10 years everyday. My hands are so beat up not even funny.

i dont know sorry for wasting peoples time i just felt like saying something. Main thing is don't open your mouth until you get to know someone. I use to judge some people.. some of those people are my best friends now. U never know

People who say "it must be nice to....whatever" are jerks. They don't see the work you've done and what you did to get as far as you have. Just be glad you're happy with what you can do. It's nice to see a young guy with a lot of knowledge and know how. My hat's off to ya!

If I spent all my time envying what others had and could afford.....well......id be sitting here all day doing just that LOL.

I don't have much....but I suppose I am better off than some out there.

I have my 72 duster......I can never afford parts for it or to finish the resto as fast as i would like....but slow but sure it gets done.

But I have my wife and my little one which means the most to me.

not to mention I have my friends here on FABO

I say if those people want to say stupid stuff like that....either explain your self or point out how you wish you had some of the things they had and they might change their tune a bit.

I don't see anything wrong with you doing what your doing. enjoy your cars, enjoy the hobby and all the nay sayers.....well to them.....give em one of these! :thebirdm: lol:toothy10:

thanks guys, I pass a lot of time looking on this site, peoples projects and.....

mechanics is a dying off trait.. 2 bigger shops owned by friends around here call me on the weekly basis asking if i need a job. I know a few times i'm working with a 40 year old guys and they ask for my input or how to... Been in garage since 5, working at 14. Guess it paid off. people say this area is bad for me and i should be making a name for my self.

but what sucks is when uncle, aunts and stuff talk bad about you. My uncle run his mouth the other day how i dont do nothing and i got word of it.
his truck needed work and my dads foot is broke so i do everything and my old man is like ask ronny if he wants to do it.

i said nope i'm gonna sit here and do nothing like i always do. went to desk and read hemmings motor muscle...

Sounds like you need to go out on a limb and open your own shop or you may regret it years from now.

i'm not jealous of what others have, more power to everyone... i see some nice stuff on this site... and i'm not gonna put down someones budget project.. Everyone has there life and what they can do.

if your happy doing what your doing then great... if all i had was a slant 6 dart id be happy.

my first car was a 4 cyl vega and i was dam happy.... i still have it better then a 4 cyl but yea. get what i mean.

thanks everyone for listening... just times are a bit rugged right now been stressed

Try not to let them get to you, all that a lot of people see are cars that roll across the Barrett Jackson auction block and the enormous price tag that they have and automatically think that every old car is worth a crap load of money. I think that is why a lot of them act that way. I also believe that some people think that if they couldn't fix an old car and they are 40, 50 or whatever that there is no way that a 19, 20, 22 year old kid could do it and assume that it was given to you on a silver platter.

and i don't need my own shop, my dad owns one.... i have no problems working.

Racekilla, I have alot of respect for you and I know you are only 2 years older than me. I wanna own my shop one day and Im just a dumb kid still so far and don't know much at all, but I know you earn your share and more. You are an awesome guy racekilla!

hey by the way everyone my name is Ronny. guess i never put that out there.

hey darTT thanks for the compliment. Don't down yourself. the best type of people are the ones willing to learn.. if u ever have a question ask.. you have a facebook... if u were closer id be more then happy to help you. I dont try to put anyone down. Not everyone has money or etc.. Like i said i did a motor in a monte for a pizza... I kind of take people under my wing to help them.... cars come easy to me, its like reading or writing.

and non of those sponsored by daddy stickers, sure hes helped me along the way here and there but i work for my money. and thats what dads are for..

i remember coming home from school in my small block chevy vega and i missed a gear and sent motor singing.. got home it was rod knocking... my dad was like good job looks ur fixing it. he went away for the weekend.. i pulled the motor out my self.... new crank and had it ready for school monday morning. Not one person showed up to help me... everyone said i thought the motor blew up.. i said yea i fixed it with no thanks to you.

i tried to start it, timing 180 off... my neighbor come over and said i was 16 and it was dangerous for me to mess with it. i was like i just changed the crank i'm more then sure i can get it to run my self and locked him out of the garage.

My names Mike, I ask always when I have a question, I aint downing myself, I know a decent amount, but I probably still don't know enough yet to get my ASE.:toothy10:. Thank you alot though, I wanna learn as much as I can, even upto where automobiles are currently so I can have a pretty wide range of what I can do.8). I still don't like electrical though:toothy10:

I dont know THAT much yet, I hope to soon though. I hate having to rely on other people for things, especially something i like doing alot, I normally do my best to fix a problem that I know I can but anything like that, I woulda thought I was over my head. I hope to be learning engines really well soon :-D

Those who say "it must be nice" usually don't have much ambition. They expect everything comes easy to everyone who has nice things, and don't appreciate the work it took to get there.

x2 that's a really good observation.

I have zero schooling behind me. Well i went to boces but i knew as much as the teachers. They put me on engine job 3rd day of class why everyone else was in class room. Teacher is like ronny class work or engine job. haha. I turned down a full ride to engineering school after highschool because i was top 5 of the class and had honors and high grades. My dad has a family business and i was stuck on being here.. sounds dumb but yea.

if i went to college, everything that happen after highschool my dad wouldnt have anything if i wasnt here to keep it together. honestly.

and thanks guys for talking.... david, mike... everyone shows me theres some great people out there...

I'm gonna make my life what i want it to be, I know i can get what i want.

.........Some ppl dont realize that u just dont piss off the mechanic that just may be working on their car............i actually have a list of ppl that i wont work on their vehicals........no way, no how.............i know its easier said than done , dont let their comments get to u...........kim................

Racekilla don't let them get to you. It's easy being on the outside looking in.

I heard the "Must be nice" comment about some of my stuff the other day and I almost fell over, because I don't hear that very often and don't ever expect it. I do have my dart, 72 dodge truck, quads and dirt bikes, but I worked my *** off to have them and keep them running. We don't go out to eat or big family vacations, so all of my extra money goes into things for me and my kids to enjoy.

and darTT.. cars today are cars today.. non easy to work on.. all nightmares.. I work on late model stuff everyday and learn as you go.... It nice to open my cuda hood and see simple spark plugs, water pump i can see and a 4 speed that doesn't take me 12 hours to get out

I agree, easy to make comments... I'm like you don't go out to eat, work hard to get what i have and keep everything running.... I run my stuff hard as well but also maintain it. I think i have enough to cover my bills.. If i have 50 left over good enough. everything i own is paid for. Many girls get wrong opinion of me when they see my cars, think im loaded, but really all the money i do have is in the cars leaving me with nada haha.

I met a good friend by saying nice truck, he has a s10 with 350 in primer... i pulled in with one of my cars at part store saw this truck.. went over and said nice and asked his plans.. he said but look at your car.. i said u think mine didn't start out looking like yours.. were good friends to this day. he said he saw me around but figured i was snobby.

You're alright, Ronny.

Have patience. People will figure out that you know what you're doing eventually. It's pretty common for older guys to talk down to younger guys. It's not right, but it's common.

Same as you, I have a kick-*** car, but our house is modest and we don't have real nice everyday cars. Everybody chooses where their money goes.
