I have a friend with a Jeep Waggy/727. It has been rebuilt by a tranny shop once. Broke the belville(diaphram) spring. I replaced it for him.I thought I knew the 727 rather well. It broke again. Backed off some of the line pressure on the adj spring. Now it has a weak reverse and no third gear. Six to twelve months between problems. It's getting very interesting and quite frustrating. Any suggestions as to what might be haunting this one? Last time I suggested a reman unit but the prices I'm seeing are close to the value of the Jeep! I can't in any conscience see him putting that kind of cash into it. 200k miles! He unfortunatly wants to keep it forever because it does what he wants it to do, tow his boat and surf fish.
