Has anyone used rocker arms from KMJ performance. On ebay they have a set of roller rockers, rocker shaft, hold downs with bolts for $335. It looks like a decent setup but wanted to get opinions first before I go any farther. If you dont likie these/havnt used them, please give some recommendations of proven rockers. Thanks

Kyle

I think those are Chinese knock offs. Your best bet is probably Harland Sharp, TD, Crower or Crane. The afore mentioned rockers are a bit pricey, but better than having some of the Chinese junk destroy your motor. JMO

They are good....UNLESS they are the ones that are stainless and have the "guides" around the roller tips. Those are notorious for unkeying the valves.

they are the same rocker bodies as prw.lol

maybe the pins are crap, ehh?

The KMJ rockers are the PRWs. Those other ones are Pro Comps. They are not the same at all.....although everybody thinks they are.

side by side have a look.lol

I think most all are cast in one place, finished in another, some are bushed while otheres are not.
The only rockers ive head losing pins/roller are the indy/proform/440 source rockers.
good to know though..

I have. We have both at the shop and they are different. The PRWs don't have anywhere near the "guides" on the sides as the Pro Comps.

The biggest problem with those rockers are the roller tip "pin" coming out, i've been told to stay away from the ones that have the pin pressed in from 1 side & have teeth, get the ones that are pressed on both sides, All these rockers like these are what they are, from overseas, whether there stamped this or that, boxed this or that, some have better quality control then the others, but i've heard there not bad for the price (the stainless that is). I'm getting a set for my 406 sbc.

I bought a set of the PRW 1.6 rockers a couple of years ago when they were cheaper. Still haven't installed them yet, but look like a quality piece.

All of the aluminum ' no name rockers' that I have bought and used all have the press in pin with teeth...but they also have a clip on the other side of the pin.

None of them have ever failed...and i shift over between 6800-7k, a lot...and big lash solid cams.

I'm talking about the stainless rockers (can't speak for the aluminum), & the "tip" that rides the valve stem, what rockers do you have that has a clip on the tip roller? All i've seen are the ones that teeth on one end or compressed on both ends.

Only the aluminum rockers that Ive used have the clip at one end of the roller pin and teeth pressed at other end.

ive gotta say this though, it's pretty sad that the aluminum rockers out last the stainless when it comes to pin failure and engine gong bye bye.lol
Ive changed the aluminum one out after the bearing wear the races...but never had one fail, because see...they are RACE PARTS..and racing parts, just like race engines, should be checked on a regular basis...just like that bronze intermediate gear on a roller cam or the valve lash on a solid cam...but i guess some dont like to tinker, then stay away from solid cams, billet roller cams, roller rockers etc..lol

I bought a set of the PRW's and the hit my comp and hughes retainers in the "arm pit" area.Tried shaft shims, didn't work. Then tried lash caps, didn't work. Then tried both, still didn't work.I know this isn't the proper way but just wanted to try something.Got extremely "P ed" off so threw them back in the draw.I guess I should of spent the extra money and bought another set of Hughes. But this is a "mild" 340 that isn't going to get used.Lesson.........if it's cheap($$) then it's cheap.

My factory MP performance bushed 273 rocker arms hit my comp retainer as well....thats cause the performance springs/retainers for the sbm is usually a LARGER DIAMETER than the arms are designed for...lol

They almost all had a line grooved into them in the ''arm pit'', I also had to clearance the aluminum ones in the ''arm pit''

You are limited in retainer diameter...but you can get away with a LOWER int height on the springs and NOT have that problem.

i have the same ones on my motor 1.5s they hit the retainer i ground the crap out of them in the pocket no problems 6500-7000 shifts over 60 passes on the 1/8th. if you look too the back of the page you will find them for a cheaper price 250-275
