Thanks for that Mark I remember my dad talking about it . He was there in person when it went down , I was unaware of the extent they went through, but I remember him leaving work to get there in time to watch , today is one of those times I wish I could ask him more about the day .
Wow Biff... I think I would have liked to there as well. Quite the undertaking.
I would love to be able to talk to my dad just one more time as most would. Been gone 33 yrs and would have been 100 this coming April 13. Mom and dads birthday were on the same day only 4 years apart.
I do dream about them so the next best thing I guess

Morning guys. Another cold day to wake up too. feeling like -22 with the windchill.
I was working on SFA for the last two days but haven't finished yet apparently.
See what comes up WOO HOO!!!

Yes, me and the wife really enjoy it

Right now the plan is to take it apart, clean it and and put it back together
Hopefully that will he all she needs
That's what I would try first I would guess it's not cheap to replace.

Hardest part is, I wouldn't know what to replace

The motor doesn't want to spin the impeller
So is the impeller sticking?
Or is the motor bad?
I would test the motor first, that is the most likely point of failure. I worked on swimming pools and to a lesser extent hot tubs one summer and typically the motor will fail from worn out brushes, much like a starter or alternator.

Thanks

The motor will try to start, and I can spin the impeller by hand

When it wants to kick in, I can spin the impeller and "jump start" it

If I do that, it keeps running untill it reaches the right temperature, and shuts off

So, the plan is to take the wet end apart and clean it
Like you said, look for scale build up
If that doesn't help, it is probably the starter on the motor

Take the motor out and bench test it. The impeller might be pooched also. An inspection with narrow it down. Good luck
