Need to go harass my brother this weekend and get my welder back into my own shop. Now that I am able to get after it again I have to get Dottie pieced back together!

How bout you guys?

Weather here has been quite wet lately but still warm. Never gets like fred and Mark put up with! Brrrrrrr!

I was just asking cause it's Nov10th on Saturday.
Starting tonight I'm off till Wednesday and will be getting together with a few other Marines I served with and I'm sure it will all go south after that...

Thanks for your service guys .

Yessir, dinner at the Marine Corps League and a few drinks is in order Friday! We call it "The Ball" but I would die if I treated it like those from my active duty days. My Evening Dress uniform is all I still own and somehow it has shrunk in the closet.

I think we have a humidity issue here in NC that's caused things to shrink. I'm pretty sure!I

Whatever you do be safe!

Is El Toro still open? I know Tustin (LTA) was closed. They might have moved it all to 29 stumps, I don't remember.

I honestly haven't got a clue? We planned on hitting Big Helyn's out side of Pendleton and maybe the e-club in San Mateo for ***** and giggles. Someone mentioned going up 1stSgts Hill... yea that guy might get throat punched before the nights over

Ok Fred, I hope you had a nice uneventful day on the road!

Yo asked what I used for paint removal, as shown.

1) A D/A sander with 80 grit
2) A grinder with an assortment of utensils as shown
3) A die grinder with flap wheels/Scotch pads or smaller wire brushes

Those Blue pads with the metal center are quite aggressive and get used a bunch!

Old tools but on a budget and work fine for me. the one I'm holding is the one I use the most It takes roll lock discs and of many different grits and can get into tight spots. I am out of new discs so can't show all the different kinds yet.
The newest tool is like a mini belt sander and here it is real good but haven't tried it yet.

Yessir, I use alot of the roloc discs in a die grinder. I get a great deal more cleaned with the blue or black fiber discs you see here on a 4 inch grindet though. Is that finish too smooth. L can go over the whole thing with 80 grit on a DA if I need to.

I am not a big fan of epoxy primer so been a long time. I think you will be fine with what you are doing. You should make sure that you get everything as smooth as you can, like no ruff edges on what little paint you leave behind. Looks like the car has been painted over before so get that newer paint off the car. If you can get all the body work done before you prime in 80 grit or about, you will use less primer and less hand blocking in the end. Lots of primer and paint is not good in what I see through out the years.
Keep me updated Jeff and give me **** if you think I'm wrong, we are all learning everyday.

How many busted knuckles did you get doing that Biff. I have no idea how you mechanics can bend around a car to get things apart and back together. New cars are not user friendly.

Well I have lots of scar tissue,so like my dad said toughen up son and it won’t hurt so much .

It was a4cyl know for cracking book time 19.hours insane time for a 4cyl.

Oh and no cyl heads around ... so customer bought a new one $2500 and $400 at the machine shop to swap everything over and lap valves .

Not to long ago I had to test drive a car that we put a new front end on. The old gal that owned it had dog and cat stuffed animals all over the car not to mention all the glitter balls hanging from the rear view mirror. 3 friends of mine passed me and and noticed I was driving and still get **** from them today.
