For those of you that has converted to a later slip yoke trans but still have the small pilot hole in the crank,Did you get a large spline/small snout converter...or were you able to change out the pump/input shaft and converter from the old trans to the new one?

Thanks

I think either way will work. I'd have the converter modified because it's easier, quicker, and cheaper. Plus you have the option of changing the stall speed at the same time if you wish. Of course, it helps to have a local builder the will do it for you!
Thanks, Mark

I just used an adapter ring

Keep in mind that '66-67 transmissions have the small-nose torque converter and the slipyoke type output. That's for slant-6 transmissions; think the changeover from small to large torque converter nose on V8s was similar, if not identical.

There's a 1/8" annular adaptor ring that lets you use a later engine with large crank counterbore in front of an early trans with small torque converter nose, but there's no adaptor ring that lets you go the other way.

What would be involved in enlarging the early small pilot hole to the larger spec?
