Lawn Tractor Question

I would say it is the fuel pump if it has one. If not sounds to me you got a restricted fuel pasage some where. Follow the fuel. Or take it to the shop and follow the money. Shame it worked good for 10 years until they put their fingers in there. If they serviced and change filters without cleaning the whole tractor first. I would say they got dirt in somewhere. was this thing clean as new when you got it back after paying them for a new tractor. Take the carb apart your self and check the passages by blowing carb cleaner though the passages both ways or watch them do it. They usually only add the kit and pray for the best. could be dirt in the fuel pump check valve also.

is there another shop you could go to besides the one you already went to? not saying they are a bad shop, just saying sometimes another set of eyes can spot the problem.

I took off the carb and sprayed carb cleaner all through the insides of the carb. The carb appears visually to be as clean as it can get. I still do not understand what is going on with this. It does not have a fuel pump. Just a tank with a line and filter going to the carb. And as stated before, I can pull the hose at the carb and gas is pouring out the end of the hose. I will try one more thing. I am going to drain out ALL the fuel and put in new fuel and try to get it running. That's what the lawn mower repair shop just told me to do when I called them.

On the wire thats going to the solenoid make sure it has at least 9 volts on it when it cuts off you may have a wiring harness or corrosion problem, the solenoid won't hold open otherwise.

Lawnmower shop is sending a trailer to pick it up this afternoon. Let them deal with it. I am sick of it.

I have the same mower with a slightly larger engine.

Year before last it started running worse and worse, to the point I had to keep the choke fully on for it to even run.

Finally it got to the point it wouldn't run at all. I dug into the carburetor and there's a jet that's behind an access plug on the side of the carb. I used some small wire to clean it out and it's been running perfectly ever since.

That said, mowers are not hard to work on but you have to have patience to go beyond spraying things in the carb to see if it'll fix it.

If it's got gas coming to the carb, and it runs on starting fluid, the problem is IN the carb, nowhere else. Probably clogged.

I took the carb off and ran a strand of fine copper wire through the openings in the jet. There is a screw in the side of the body of the housing under the float that i assume keeps the jet from moving. I removed that screw and attempted to unscrew the jet. The jet has a slotted opening in the middle of it that is accessible from the bottom of the float bowl. I could only turn the jet about 3 turns and it got really tight. I did not want to damage the jet so i just eased it back in to the body. I just cannot see any particles in this carb, It looks completely clean. It just will not keep running.
