LD 340 vs Performer RPM?

-
Over priced modifed Action plus. But a real good intake.

Rear .... Front ...
5-1/4 - 4-9/16 = 4.875 would be real close. Closest est. that my dead brain can handle right now. ;)

(4-14.5/16 or 4 29/32)

So sez the smarty pants kid next to me.

Thanks Rumblefish!

I used the "THANKS" button but still wanted to give you propers for your effort and information.

Stealth is a good intake once you figure out it's quirks

TonyFields,

Does the air-gap runners and carb deck sit higher than the LD340 in order to get the gap or does it have a "valley pan" cast into the bottom to achieve the gap?

I was wondering if one made a valley pan for an LA motor would that give a similar affect of keeping the carb and runners cooler (block the heat risers of course)?

The "valley pan" is cast onto the manifold.

If you already have the LD340, it would be so little of a gain to upgrade to the Performer RPM that I can't see it being worth it. Both are good intakes but I would not say that one is leaps and bounds above the other one.

Buy a used LD/rpm/air gap before buying the copy would be my suggestion.

If you have an LD, buying the other two isn't really worth the time or investment.

this is the 1st best answer Ive read so far.
there are others Im sure...

basically, the 2 intakes will show within 7-8 hp of each other with the same combo.

the visual diff is that the LD340 has seeming ly more runner volume, the RPM has straighter more uniform runners.

The LD340 also has more area under the carb flange....but the rpm has a lil deeper plenum to compensate....lil this & a lil that...

I have both and should tape off the windows on each and cc the whole shabang to see how much/ 'if any' volume difference there is.
