Let's Join hands

You know cudaspaz, it must be the water around here because I have another friend that owns an actual junkyard just down the street from the house I grew up in. I have had a longstanding deal with him that if he finds a Mopar, he brings it to me. Our deal is that I part it out, we split the money and he comes and hauls the shell off to the scrapyard and keeps the money on the scrap. This has worked out well over the years because he doesn't part out anything, he just scraps them when he needs the $$$ so any money we split is way over what he would normally make. That's why I thought it a good idea for ramcharger. If you have been into cars for awhile, you get to know these kind of people. They're in business to make money with what they have, but would prefer not to do the work to get the parts off. I know a lot of guys the other way like you say, but if Ramcharger has any type of this connection network, it can be done.

When I say it doesn't have to be Mopar parts, I mean this... a lot of people ask me if I would help list their items and they will pay me a % of the final sale value for helping them out. I've sold Ford parts, guitars, clothes, collectables, anything anybody asks me to list for them I do. I am set up to do it and they're not. I have a packaging and shipping system that eases the pain in the a** of shipping, and we both make money at it. Even though times are hard right now, people still need or want items and are willing to pay for them, just not the over-inflated prices that things have been going for in the last few years.

I'm just trying to help Ramcharger out with a few ideas that I have been using to supplement my income when my regular work is slow. I hope he finds a way to keep busy, make some money and keep his head above water until things turn around!!! Geof

Joe you are right, I am glad you are staying busy and the walk's are good for us booth and keeps us in perspective 8)

Yes he does! A couple days a ago I found a SOG multi-tool in the alley in perfect but used condition. I've been looking for my Kobalt multi-tool for two weeks but couldn't find it. I'll take the SOG, lol! Thank you God!

Prayers incoming :) My family may be going through the same way in a few weeks.

Prayers back your way that this won't happen to your family. :)

keep pluging away bro PS have you ever thought about strating your own business

Small engine work and computer/networking work have been keeping me alive. :) Everyone I know keeps telling me to start a computer repair business (software and hardware. I was a systems engineer). I thought about it once and I even made a logo and registered a trade name with the state back in 2003, but I let it expire. The name was "Coyote Canyon Computers" and I also had a cutlery business called "Coyote Canyon Cutlery". I can do almost anything on cars and motorcycles profitably exculding body work, lol!

Ram, you are going to be fine and will land somethng soon. The man upstairs upstairs is just taking a little more time to make sure your next position will be one where you will be happy and can show off all of your skills. Don't worry - it's coming.

Thanks man, I imagine that God is busy man these days and is taking care of his flock that have families first and that is just fine with me. I can wait..... Kids should take precedence over rottweilers, lol.

It was great to talk with you this morning Joe (even though Billy totally bogarted you -- harumph!)!!! Sending some more positive vibes your way -- something has to break for all of us soon.

Great to talk to you Leanna! Yeah, Billy was a bogart but he was trying to get something accomplished.....and cracking my *** up while he was at it, lol. You guys are the best and I can't wait to meet you both in person one day. Will Billy kick my *** if I stare? LOL! BTW, he told me about the powdercoating oven guy.....LOL!

We are strong in numbers and I thank everyone for there well wishes and prayer, This man has got to have a place to do his thing somewhere.
Keep the faith Joe and stay close to the phone and watch the mail bud.

Mike,

Again, you blow me away with your insight. How did you know that I really needed some support right now from a simple rant on another thread? I rant about once a week, how did you know Bro? 8)

Cosig,

Thank you for the idea but I've only been here in Colorado for 15 years. People here, "mountain and plains people" are tight as a drum and the cool stuff is far and few between. Cudaspaz has a point in my situation and I'm sure was not meant to throw your idea in the dust, but most our Mopar stuff is owned not by families but corporations or LLCs.

I love hitting the yards and just sometimes sitting in the drivers seat of 30, 40, or 50+ year old car and wonder just what this car or truck would say if it could talk. I'm an "Automotive Romantic", LOL! I'm going to do this just to keep my spirits up and my blood revving!

Mike,

You just answered my question before I asked! 8) Thanks again brother and "Keep On Truckin'" !!!!

I feel for ya Ram and I know a lil bout what your goin thru.I haven't been paid in 5 weeks and it's my company, let 1 guy go too. But i will make it and so will you.You can help but make with friends like these

No Mike, not uncomfortable, I just don't want people to think I have my hand out is all. :) What you have done is admirable in every way and I was just shocked that anyone would ask for a prayer for me. I was just stunned to say the least, and very thankful. Maybe "Blown Away" would be a better description. No one that I know has ever asked for a prayer for me.

Again, let's not forget our other Mopar brothers and sisters in the same or worse situation that I'm in. :)

Thanks Again Brother!!!!

Joe

You're running a business the way it should be done and I hope everything gets better for you too. I can't imagine how hard it was to let someone go.....

You're a good man Ramcharger, God rewards those with patience. I'll say a prayer for you.

I was thinking the same thing.

I had a buddy with some serious mopar addiction and great mechanical and body talent.
I kept pushing him to start his own business and finally after he could not take any more unemployment, he let me write him up a killer ad in our mopar club publications promoting his sweet skills.

Well, he has been pumping out alot of cool mopar projects among a few brand x'rs as well and the ad has brought him some good word of mouth referrals.
He is currently building a restomodded 1970 340 4 speed 'cuda with all kinds of aftermarket go fast goodies.

Nothing like being your own boss, but it does take alot of sacrifice and marketing to get to the point where the phone keeps ringing.

It also has it's ups and downs, feast and famine but it's very enjoyable to put your own skills to use without someone else making all the money.

I'm not a body guy and that would be my downfall. Tuning, engines and welding is where my mechanical expertise sits. :)

If I won the lotto this is what I'd do:

Set up a breakfast and dinner program for grade school kids including a one hour grade specific tutoring program for those of need. It will not be color specific although the working poor and single mothers will have precendence and they must be citizens of the USA!

Buy 80 acres of which 10 would be set aside for Mopars awaiting recycling.

Another 10 would be set up for a Rottie and German Shepherd rescue and I would include "war dogs" of all breeds so they could be reunited with their handlers when they come back. Wolf hybrids would welcome too.

I'd have a half rounded steel buildings encompassing a machine shop, computer repair and telecommunications installation, move and repair. A gunsmith shop which I know a bit about, specialzing in lever actions, Ruger revolvers and CETME style semi-autos. Small engines and generators would also be on the list with restoring motorcycles of every type.

The rest of the property would be devoted to growing food, milk cows and beef. Maybe buffalo. Good lean beef!

This is my dream but I'd need a good, strong woman to help me out. :-D Oh yeah, not only would she have to deal with buffalo, rotties, german shepherds, us motorcycle riders and mopar drag racers but she'd have to deal with me.....LOL!

Ramcharger;you are in my thoughts. I hope that you find work soon! If you are a tradesman, you could likely get a job with teck, where I work. Many guys retiring over the next 10 years. In fact there likely will be no old guys here in the next 5.

If your willing to move to Canada anyways,lol..

Great song choice ramcharger. With my time off I too have had time to work around the house/garage. I will be glad to finally pack up and head west when the gavel drops. Looking forward to starting over one more time. :toothy10:

I know I've enjoyed posting with you, Joe, as a fellow Ramcharger owner and fan. I read in one of your posts in this thread that the unemployment irks you. Can't say that I'm fond of it either, but remember that it's the cost of doing business on having an employee, much like your taxes are, Medicaide, SSI, comp, etc. Take that all into account, add your salary and the cost of doing business is about twice your base rate. You earned it, it's your money in the long run. You're just getting it back now, instead of having seen it your paycheck each week.
I read your thread on unemployment. You hit it all on the head and got it right. You've offered a lot on here, both in fellowship and tech. The employers who haven't seen that? It's really their loss that they don't get it, not yours. We value you. Prayers for the unemployed.

Heavenly Father, not only do we come before you for this man and his family, but for all families suffering through a weak economy. Most will suffer financially, some will suffer spiritually and mentally. For every door that is closed we know that another will be opened later. The timing is Yours. We are people and therefore impatient, You are infinite and wise. While we grow anxious and dispirited as children, we want it now, You calmly smile and tell us all in due time, knowing where to place us so that Your vision may be carried through. Bear with us, Father, for us waiting is the hardest part. We seek Your guidance in all things.

Amen.

(Sorry, it's a lot easier to stand on Sunday and lead a congregation in prayer than it is to write one on the spur of the moment.)

Nicely said and dun ramenth amen.
The sun is shinning her today, I can see the sky.8)
Hay Joe, the buffalo sounds good , we have a farm up the hwy 40 miles and get fresh buffalo burger, a little pricey but good, I don't know very much but I do know animals and the refuge for the animals sure would be a good place for me to volunteer and enjoy my days, as long as there is a stream or small lake close buy, I have to have a fresh fish fix at least once a week.:happy10:
coming from a broken home I sure do see you have insight for the children and mothers, and the food and tutoring for the needy is a great idea.
Time for a bowl of wheaties =P~ That made me hungry.

Chin up, Ram; those are good words from rementh. Kinda puts things in perspective. You seem to have the patience of Job (not job).

Keep your head up Ram, it is tough everywhere right now, I have been out of work for almost a year now, so I know what you are going through..And a big thanks to Memike for posting this threat....Thoughts and prayers for you and all going through this rough time

My prayers are sent Ramcharger and to all of those that
are in a tight place during this economical hardship.

Things have got to turn around.

MeMike you seem to be a great guy. You are always willing to help other people out. We need more people like you who are not always thinking of their self. TO many people get wrapped up in their only problems to realize that their are people out their who have it worse than us. There are a lot of people out there like RamCharger who are down and out. My family is one of them. The other half is laid off and I was suppose to get laid off to but instead they decided to keep me on but reduced my pay to almost $3 an hour. I am not complaining at least I got a job. In a month I will be back to normal pay. I think it is important for all of us to stick together and give everyone moral support. It not only gets one person down but the effects the whole family as well. I know it is hard but we just got to try to think positive. I tell mine I know things are rough and we have to make sacrifices but at least we have a roof under our head and it could be worse. Good luck to you RamCharger and I hope you find another job soon. To anyone else who is looking for work I wish you the best of luck to. Have a good weekend everyone.

Thanks needsaresto! I've got a lease on the house here and moving all my stuff would be really pricey. My brother in Georgia just bought a house for an investment and offered me a place to stay in exchange for my labor. If worse comes to worse, I'll sell off all my vehicles but one and move down south although the climate would kill me, lol!

Great song choice ramcharger. With my time off I too have had time to work around the house/garage. I will be glad to finally pack up and head west when the gavel drops. Looking forward to starting over one more time. :toothy10:

Thank you homecloned! Starting over can be a good thing!

I have seven sisters and have seen a few of them trying to raise their kids on a single mothers income. It's tough man. Kids are our future and I believe we need to take care of our own before we start sending money overseas. :)

I've haven't seen the economy this bad in my 43 years on this earth. :angry7: You're right, at least we have a roof over our heads, some food in the fridge and clean water. It could be worse and we should be thankful for what we have.
