"The leaders of these mechanical titans were three Hemi E-Body convertibles, a ’70 and a ’71 ’Cuda and a ’70 Challenger R/T, all scheduled to cross the block during the live NBCSN broadcast on Friday, January 22. This was in front of a huge crowd, and they were not disappointed. The 1970 example, under lot F109, is a four-speed example finished in FY1 Lemon Twist yellow, and climbed quickly to $2.4M and finally garnered $2,675,000 to be the top seller of the event."

"Following this pricewise was the ’71 ’Cuda under lot F102, which highlighted a top winning bid at 2.3M. Painted Sno-White and built without billboards, this car showed the continued high demand of these vehicles. The Hemi Challenger R/T droptop left the block unsold as lot F109, but was quickly snatched up by a serious purchaser for $1,625,000 immediately following its passage."

"Unrestored original Hemi muscle garnered the fourth highest sale of the weekend for any make; this was the ex-Frank Badelson ’71 Hemi ’Cuda hardtop in Winchester Gray. A former Mopar Muscle cover car (June 2002), this one climbed into the million-dollar club, being hammered down at $950,000 and clearing into the biggest leagues when the buyer’s premium is considered. Other unrestored muscle Mopars garnering serious attention came from the Wayne Schmeeckle vehicles offered later that day: a 671-mile Superbird (440-4BBL with great provenance and paperwork) sold for $285,000, while a 1969 M-code Six Pack Super Bee with 23,000 miles and amazing originality hammered $140,000 to go to a new home."

In all, 26 Mopar vehicles attained prices over $100,000 during the course of the event. The top Mopar from Wayne Schmeeckle’s collection was a beautiful Shaker-equipped ’70 Challenger, selling for $290,000.

...Mr. Norm ’71 Demon 340 Six Pack GSS took $53,000, just missing our Top 50 list. An FM3 Panther Pink 1970 Charger 500 factory-equipped with a 383 four-barrel/Pistol Grip four-speed hammered home to a strong $ 72,500.

...’67 RO Hemi Plymouth factory race car took home $80,000, while a ’68 Hemi Road Runner brought in $88,000
...1969 Charger Daytona barn find out of Alabama, which hammered to a healthy $90,000 considering its noted patina and as-found originality.

The prices are going up again.
