I have a slant6 with a 390 carb, clifford split head with a lokar kickdown cable..my problem is that I got it to shift through the gears ok but when the speed drops to about 40mph it downshifts into second..its a little uncomfortable and im out of ideas...

thanks

will you send me some pics of your lokar kickdown set up? especially the linkage to the carb. i have about the same setup as you. the offy intake with the 390 holley carb and dual hooker headers. maybe we can meetup at a carshow here in Ct. thnx, slant daddy

You can use a mopar kick down cable kit and make a bracket for the carb using an off the shelf cable bracket and modifying it if you dont buy the complete kit. A throttle return spring bracket may also need to be made but can be done using old brackets or some bar stock, a drill and a file. Here is my set up with a 390.

Bracket if you don't buy the complete kit

Cable with hardware and carb bracket kit. This is the kit with a hadware kit that also is needed. It has the lever arm that goes on the transmission, bolts and nuts and a return spring that also mounts on the transmission.

This is MOPAR stuff not aftermarket so you know it will work.
