Anybody know where to get longer wheel studs for a 70 Dart? With the wheel/ tire/brake combo on this car ,I needed to run 1/4" wheel spacers. Now the studs need to be a little longer...1/2" would do it. Would consider changing to 1/2" thread also.
Any part numbers would be appreciated
Factory disc brake rotors and original 8 3/4 rear....
Thanks....Pete

There are no longer studs available for the Kelsey Hayes disc brakes that you have on the front of your car.

looks like a lot more than a 1/4 inch to me. there must be something else interferring. ive seen that with a 1/2 spacer

i have 1/4 inch spacers that ive used to clear calipers with and ive always had plenty of threads.

Go to smileys racing.com and look through their stuff. They had a set of 20 studs that were like 4 inches i think? Comes with lug nuts and only costs like $30 i think. Youll need a drill bit and some time but that may help as long as there isnt another problem

The studs may not be all the way in and seated. I just went and looked at the kelsey hays set I have and there is nothing there as to keep a spacer from seating.

no no... i mean the ID of the wheel being smaller than the OD of the snout where the bearings are... so it would get hung up before it seated...

i ment the snout diameter... like the wheel was getting tight on the snout... i think you knew what i ment...

i gotchya. i was thinking maybe the backside of the rim has ribs or knubs on it and the holes are a distance away from the hub face

He has a front wheel pictured so that is the special made stud that looks like this.

This is a problem child. The issue is the rotors are two peice assemblies instead of the one peice rotor most are used to on the older cars. You have the rotor and then the hub. The diameter of the stud has to be maintained all the way through the hub because the knurl attaches the rotor an hub assembly. Any slop and trouble will be in the cards.

You can see how much threads are on these studs and 1/4" spacer shouldn't give the problem as shown.

Thanks Ok, i understand now. I see what you mean on his pics, that wheel looks a lot further out then a 1/4". The nose in the bearing area looks really short?

Could that be a odd style wheel? Maybe a early 60s that was on a drum brake only car? Wonder if it's a problem if a 1/4" spacer was tried on the rear?

I just went and measure the stud length. There is one inch of wheel stud sticking out of the hub. There is a very slight shoulder sticking out past the hub.

There never was a special disc brake wheel for the disc brakes on these cars that I have ever found. It does have to be a 14" rim because 13" won't clear the caliper. Maybe he is trying to use a 13" wheel. I had thought about that earlier but the wheel is sitting even as far as I can tell in the picture.

Looked in the dorman catalog and they show the original number as being a 610-130. .565 knurl, 1-1/16 shoulder length and a total length of "2. Couldn't find anything longer with the knurl up high on the shoulder from dorman. As stated by others it seems like something is not seated fully though.

Wow, now you guys got me wondering. The spacers are 1/4", I had them custom made. They fit flush all the way to the mounting surface... They aren't getting hung up on anything. The wheels I believe are Wheel Vintiques ( don't Know for sure because the customer supplied them). I also ran into an issue with the rear also. when this rear-end housing was manufactured back in 1970, the leaf spring perches were welded on offset to one side . With the factory wheels and tires, this would not be a problem. I would guess that you wouldn't even notice. But while trying to fill up the wheel wells with a wider wheel/ tire, one side was 3/8" from rubbing on the leaf spring while the other side... maybe you could slide a couple or 3 bussiness cards in there. Short story long, I'm also running a 1/4" spacer on the rear and I have the same short stud problem there. When I go back to the shop on monday I will take a pic of the rear with-out the spacer so you can see how the stud / lugnut looks.
Thanks for the replies guys alot of good info is here

Also i will add that without the calipers on or the spacer, these wheels will bolt right on

I measured the front stud in a complete assembly and I have one inch of stud sticking out. The wheel you show is a correct OEM wheel or is it a custom made wheel?
