1978 Dodge Aspen Super Coupe for Sale
$ 5000

Factory 1978 Aspen Super Coupe. Runs and Drives well, Solid western washington car. 1 of 531 made.
E-58 360 cubic inch "police interceptor" engine. 727 transmission, console shift, 8 1/4" 3.21 sure-grip rear. Factory flares and spoilers , police suspension package, 15x8" rims, factory 'blackout' trim. [1970] 4 barrel and intake replace the originals, Newer TTI ceramic coated headers + nice mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust w/ crossover.
One repaint many years ago. Paint is shiny on sides, but tired and cracked on top. Sable Tan metallic - the original color. Very solid body, framerails, doors, sills, etc. A few spots of rust under the paint by rear drivers tailight, and a couple on drivers rear qtr behind wheel. It doesn't go thru the metal. This is a factory undercoated car that lived in a salt-free environment. Total rust on outside of car could be covered by 2 half dollar coins. One spot on drivers footwell that covers about 2 1/2 dimes, otherwise the whole underbody is tight+ structurally rust free. Previous owner added non-funcional hood sccop and fliptop gas cap.
Engine runs, idles, drives nice. Tranny shifts all gears well, brakes good. All lights, gages, wipers, heater, etc work. digital clock option, fender turn signal indicators, cruise control, remote mirrors. Tan colored interior, buckets, console, factory "SE / deluxe" door panel/ woodgrain on dash/ and seat pleating. original short pile shag style carpet. A few tears along seams on drivers seat, and a seperated seam on passenger, actually they are comfortable seats. Console has a bit of the "chrome plastic" peeling, a sun discolored console lid, and headliner is starting to sag, but not badly. Considering the age and originality, the interior is pretty good.
Super coupes came with the factory HD police suspension, so it has the higher rate springs, front and rear sway bars, etc.
295/50/15 rear tires , and 245/60/15 fronts , on the original 15x8" rims, at least 60% tread left.
When i bought the car the front spoiler was missing, I've located and bought one, which I hesitate to call NOS , because its been stored outside a box for many years, but it's evident [ no indentations ] that it was never installed on a car.
Parts included in sale: * and Will Not be sold seperately* - NOS grille , used grille, one NOS front fender, NOS tailights L+R , used 3 piece rear spoiler, used rear window slats, extra front bumper, digital clock, speedometer, various little elect parts, another heater control, mirrors, some interior pieces, etc. Oh, and a full set of used Wheelhouse Flares !
Factory Service manual, glovebox manual, 1978 dealer part #/ description manual, probably about 15 magazines with supercoupe stories, including 1978 Hot Rods with a S/C project car, some other literature I'm likely forgetting.
Tranny is leaking fluid from tailshaft seal and the speedometer cable inlet, needs neutral safety switch- as it sometimes won't star in park-but always will in netral, oil pan leaks. No warranties are implied, but it's been a dependable weekend driver for me for about 5 years.
Car has 2 fender tags ,including the "special order" tag, door data sticker, remnants of factory stripes inside door jamb. Never found a build sheet. Plenty of pics to send.

Car is located in Port Orchard, WA , about an hour from Seattle.

If you are an Aspen guy you gotta buy this car. somehow, someway. F-bodies are next on the list to go up in value. I think investmentwise this is a must have(for a f-body guy) Can you match motor to car? If it does match find a way. Only my opinion. Good luck man!

I've been telling myself the same thing fbodies are the next to explode in value.Truthfully i dont see it happening.WISH IT WOULD!!! i have a few.Good looking car! be real nice with t-top option.

That IS as close to the F-Body holly grail as you can get, unless there are some freak BB cars out there. Very cool, good luck.

This car about rusted out from underneath me before I could sell it.
I love my Dodge Dart, but by 1976 the manufacturing steps to make a car that lasted apparently weren't there anymore.

Ya the F body cars are bad for rot. I really like that super coupe!

Looks like a good deal, plus all the extra parts that come with it. I got a soft spot for the Super Coupe and the Volarie Roadrunners too.
Here's a couple pics for you to drool at.

Here are the pics from when it was in Mopar Muscle....

All the wiring passed through a hole right under the passenger side engine bay support rod (you can kind of see it in the pic) WITH NO GROMMET! That was my idea of what happened but the owner thinks that it was the chrome stock voltage alternator from China that he had put on right before the car went poof.

o yha I would love to have that

Those are rare. I saw a sport wagon in the early eighties in Puerto Rico. I was a 3 speed manuel no less. Dark red with pin stripes. never knew what happened to it. The ONLY one I have ever seen.

Dang 360, that was a nice car.

I remember that a social worker named Dennis Harley used to come check up on us kids when we were little because of domestic issues with Dad.

Dennis Drove a similar red F-body super coupe, and I remember he gave me a ball glove for Christmas and I still have it.

I always thought I would love to have a car like that.
