Hello,

I am looking for any info or specs on comp cams 766-1 valve spring teatainer.

Specifically what diameter valve stem and what degree locks are used?

Thank you

that number isn’t in my catalog, and a google search just leads to this thread.

Yes. For sure. That is why I am asking about it. My guess is that it's an older # so that catalog might need to date to the 90's or 2000's.

Thank you.

I have an old CC catalog & that # is not in it. There is a 736.

Hello Bewey,

Are there any specs on 766?
I will take those if you can provide them.

My assumption is 766 is tool steel or CrMo and 766-1 is Titanium.

Cheers Mate!

There are no dash-1 in the catalog, just the 3 digit #.
There is also a #746: Steel, all stem sizes, 1.550" spring diam, takes CC super locks
#736: Tit, same as above.

I thought the dash number for retainers was how many. Like 766-12 would be for a slant 6 for instance, while 766-16 for a V8. I think that's how it is. That said, I caint find a DANG thing on that 766 part number. Are you sure the number is correct? Not a typo? And have you tried calling Comp? I know.....usually worthless, but it's worth a shot.

Correct.
A “-1” would be one piece for: retainers, springs, spring cups, shims, pushrods, valves, rockers, rocker studs, lifters, and a pair of locks, etc.

Whatever plan the OP has regarding Comp “766” retainers, I’d say since they don’t seem to exist(at least not any longer), he might want to consider an alternative that’s actually available.

I’d just look at the spring dimensions and valve stem diameter/lock groove they need to fit and come at it from that angle.

No, I have not called Comp. I wanted to try here first. It seems that they are for bigger valve stems and unknown lock angles.

I probably cannot use them, but I wanted to see if there are any available specs listed for them.

Thanks for the help guys.
