I purchased a BB 727 transmission last week. Previously, someone used pipe tape to snug the filler tube to the transmission. I cleaned this out and removed the tape. Now, I am afraid to add new fluid because this filler tube seems LOOSE. It only has that little "O" ring. Should there be another rubber grommet that is missing? The hole on the trans doesn't seemed rounded out or anything, just seems like this tube is too wobbly and loose.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

It only uses the o-ring for sealing,if you have it out look for cracks around the area where the o-ring goes.
You can smear some sealer on it if you like to do that kind thing.

Does it not have a bracket to mount it to the block...... or something of that nature?

Yes there is a bracket that attaches to the bell housing bolt.

Yes,the o-ring is above the pan rail. When the car sits for a while the converter drains back into the pan and leaks if it is not sealed good or has a crack.

I thought so.... wonder why it's still whooblly?

When you take it out to replace the o-ring most people think it has to come out like your rowing a boat:D

Yeah, the arm that goes over to the bell housing hole is there and I'm sure it will stay still once mounted. Nothing looks cracked. Someone elese said they were all a little sloppy. I'll get a new O ring or probably a new filler tube with dip stick. Thanks for the input guys.
