Thought I'd followup on my head porting post http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=221217 .
Ultimately I didn't wind getting those heads on the motor. I couldn't get the chamber volume down enough to match the compression of the current heads. So a new plan was hatched. Replace MP .484 cam with my old Comp 252*@.050 .528 108 LSA solid flat tappet. Then replace the FelPro 8553 .050 thick head gaskets with the Mr Gasket .028 thick head gaskets, raising the comp from 9.5 to 10. Also swapped the OEM windage tray with a Milodon screen. Swapped my 1" tapered spacer for a 2". Running an electric water pump drive instead off the crank pulley. Swapped my 4500 8" verter for a 5000 8" verter.
Best run last season fully tuned
60' 1.579
660 ET 7.50
660 MPH 89.7
1/4 ET 11.8
1/4 MPH 112

New times
60" 1.504
660 ET 7.19
660 MPH 93.4
1/4 ET 11.3
1/4 MPH 117
Unfortunately its gotta come back out, oil pressure is crapping out due to sucking the pan dry comes right back when I let out at the stripe. Going to put my Moroso 8 qrt pan on. Also have a crank case evac system to hookup. Air/fuel ratio was in the high 13s so more tuning is in order. I think this thing will go in the 11 teens.

Nice work skrews. A 1/2sec is huge with what you've done. I really liked the 8qt Moroso....used it on several brands and never lost a bottom end. Does look a little lean? But you'll get that. I think you got a super strong runner on your hands. :thumleft:

good work skrews!nice gain.bet that cam was mostly responsible.

specs for both cams
MP purple shaft (the .484 cam), as actually measured, not just read out of MP catalog
advertised duration 290*
duration @ .050 238*
duration @ .200 143*
.320 lobe lift .480 lift at valve with 1.5 rocker (more like .450 with crappy stamped rockers)
108 LSA
installed at 105 (3* advanced)

Comp custom grind Xtreme Energy Solid
advertised duration 290*
duration @ .050 252*
duration @ .200 164*
.352 lobe lift .510 at the valve with .018 lash and 1.5 iron rocker
108 LSA
installed 3* advanced
Same opening and closing points, just a lot more aggressive lobe profile than the Purple Shaft.

well since your just gonna throw those 308s away since you couldnt use them, got any interest in selling them? ; )

Looks like the suspension is working really well...that is a great 60' for that ET. Are you running a 904 with a low gear set?

What's your total $ so far?
I do my own machining and porting so labor is free. Most of the parts in the motor are leftovers from engines past, scrap pile refugee pieces, and Ebay/swap meet/Craig's List deals. Probably in the whole motor about $600-$700.

Yep 904 with low gear set, 5000 ATI stock eliminator converter. CalTrac with Rancho 9000 shocks on the rear. MP .810 T-bars up front with drilled and drained shocks. Front rebound bumpers ground to 1/4" thickness, ride height about as low as I can stand. Has about 6" of front travel. Launch off of 2 step and line lock (poor mans trans brake):D

5 mph more is a lot of improvment.i bet you could feel it was better on the run..
