Hey guys I just picked up a lunati voodoo 60405 cam shaft from a mopar swap meet. But just wondering how well it performs and how does it idle. Thanks!

Pretty rough idle in a 340. Since you posted in the Racers forum, i have to wonder if you asked because you're looking at some street use also......If so, i'm thinking at least a 3500/4000 well built converter and a 4+ gear with a average size tire around 27/28" tall. Any more info on your combo will help everyone give you better advice.

Thanks for the reply! But I'll do a little street but I'm expecting to do more drag racing. I'm building a new engine and picked up this cam and was just wondering. Just a short run up on the engine. It's got the eddy rpm heads and air gap intake with Ross pistons and scat rods.

It will idle pretty aggressively. Will need plenty of initial timing.

I know plenty of people with solid 11 second rides running that camshaft in 340-416 engines. It's gonna like a lot of converter and gear!

Okay cool I've got around a 3000 stall in there now from the previous motor but in guessing ill have to bump it up some like oldmanrick said around 3500 to 4000. I've got 391 gears in it now. Pretty excited about the cam tho!

Cracked,Rick know their stuff.Good info. Will take some tuning and patience.

Should have welcomed you to the site before....Welcome! :D.

I have to congratulate you on building up a 3.31" stroke engine :thumbrig:. That's getting more rare these days. I get the sense that you know what your doing, so i don't have alot to add at this point, except a few reminders. With that amount of lift, the pushrod holes will more then likely have to be clearanced in the Eddy heads and i'd use a adjustable rocker with that setup to be able to keep lifter pump up to a minimum, along with a good set of matched valve springs. Also, since that engine is gonna want to rpm pretty high, a good balance job is mandatory. One good thing is, you have enough gear to get started, although in the end it may want a little more at the track. But that will save you a few bucks to put toward a torque converter from a well known builder that will work well with the current gear. No off the shelf stuff (TCI,B&M,etc.) for this build please . This is gonna be a nasty sounding small block, so all i ask is, when you get it all together and running, you shoot us a video so we can see/hear that bad boy run........

Oh yeah I'll get a video up on here when she's up and running! But oh yeah no off the shelf converter. I do have a coupłe of questions tho or suggestions. What do you think about the turbo action? And what are some good affordable adjustable rocker arms. I know affordable and adjustable rocker arms don't go together too well but just wondering lol I thought about finding the factory adjustable rockers off of an early small block like a 273

Turbo Action :thumbrig:.

I will have to defer on the best rockers. I've only used the 273's personally and never had any issues, but that was years back and with a little milder cam/springs then you'll be running. I'm sure you'll get some more current info on those from other members, although the Comp ProMagnums look interesting to me from a durability standpoint.

Simple. Check out the "parts for sale ads".Or post a ad in"parts wanted". Make sure you see pictures,of inside the rocker bores, rocker shafts for rust and wear. Turbo Action kills, run it.Bad part of older cars, learn as you go....

Lol thanks guys for all the info and you couldn't of sad it better. You learn as you go!
