M-body ?

I saw this Diplomat thumbing through a weekly auto sales ad yesterday. It's not like I need another project, but this thing got me thinking. It's a '85 with a 318 but according to the ad it has 'engine knock'. I assume the crank is probably trashed, but the block should be okay. Being an '85 it should have the 302 swirl heads on it. It has an automatic, I assume a 999 with lockup converter. What rear axle would it have, 8-1/4 maybe?

Hmmm, I have a spare 360 crank and set of 360 rods. I also have some 1.88 intake valves and an extra 4bbl intake. Ahhh, how about a stroked 318? This could make for an interesting sleeper/beater. What do you guys think?

i took a 1987 5th avenue & hot rodded it, tore up the local teenagers with this car, i put in an 2:94 suregrip 8 1/4 from a police car, a 2:74 low geared 904 trans, stock convertor, stock low compression, small vavle heads-360, i blueprinted a 360 short block, stock mp 340 resto cam, windage tray, stock oil pmp, port matched eldebrock perfomer intake, 340 thermoquad, mp vac advance dist, msd 6al ignition, hedman 1 5/8 headers, 2 1/4 exhaust with dyno max super turbos, no cats, installed cragar s/s wheels 15x7, i kept all the comforts, air, cruise, leather, etc. it weighed 4100 lbs with me in it. i shifted it @ 5500 rpm. it ran a best of 14.80, & always in the 14.90,s even in 100 degree heat! i took it to the 2003 monster mopar weekend in st loius & won the trophey brkt. i have since sold it to a 70 year old man, be careful if your in oklahoma & see a brown 5th with a tach on the dash! ha ha
