Took my RPM Magnum Eddy heads to the machine shop today. They looked them over, pulled the intake and exhaust valves, checked spring pressure, etc., and said that I really didn't need to do much to the heads as they looked good as they were. What gives? Is he right, do I not need to do anything? This is a speed shop in Dallas.

depends what you want out of them. My set looked great and would have done a great job in stock form - quality and finish in ports etc was good. i wanted a little more so I removed some of the pushrod pinch point material and blended and the buldge that is farther in the intake port that is for the head bolt and blended and opened up the ports to magnum gasket size and blended. Nothing radical - just some blending and smoothing some surfaces.
I'm sure I must have picked up a few cfm over stock for a few hours work.

I agree with the shop - the quality of the castings are good IMHO

What cam do you recommend for my combo? 408 Magnum, 58cc chambers, out of the box eddy's, M-1 intake, Protru pistons (forged), windage tray, 10.0:1 comp.? Basically, crate motor converted to 408 with eddy heads?

Thanks Rumblefish! I already have the crane adjustable roller rockers with poly locks. Do I also need new roller lifters, or can I use my roller lifters that cam with my Mopar roller cam. What do you think about my combo? It's going in my 68 Cuda Notchback. I have a 3200 stall converter w/A998 low first gear tranny. Thanks for your feedback!

I blend the enties back about 1/2" to get rid of any "stuff" left by the CNC or hand finishers. As long as the valve springs are good for you cam, and the guides are fine, let 'er rip...

I suggest you call Ken Hensley at hensleyperformance.com in Knoxville, TN. (865)947-0426 He is an excellant man to talk to about mopar machine work. His shop is strickly Chrysler only, he has a great reputation for high output reliable engines. He recently done a set of edelbrock heads for me and I am very happy.

A machine shop thats honest  i got my Edelbrocks from Best Machine w/their street port job, very nice work..but i'm sure the heads would be fine out of the box they just improved them for my combination..
