I have 2 different looking drives here . 1 is pinned with a taller gear and I dont recall where it came from ?
The other is what I presume to be the stock one for the 5.9 magnum

Nobody ?

To rephrase my question... Does the magnum use a specific drive ? My instinct says to go with the pinned drive that has a slightly taller gear.

Pinned one seems to be a MP hp drive... just cant remember when I bought it .

I thought the hardness of the gear was different between the LA and the Magnum engines.
Maybe it was the roller Motors used a different metal from the LA.

Billet rollers need a bronze gear.
Mine is a regrind stocker...
It was the thickness of the gear that prompted me to ask.
Further research indicates Magnum and LA gears are the same...

Intermediate Shaft
It is very important to use the correct intermediate shaft (the shaft between the cam and the oil pump, the cam gear is on this shaft.) The stock intermediate shaft is designed to be used with a hydraulic roller cam (steel), while almost all stock LA shafts are designed for flat tappet cams (iron). A steel cam will wear away an iron gear and vice-versa. This can lead to engine failure.
