This could also be a sign of a stuck over pressure relief valve in the oil pump and not a gasket issue.
If the new plate does not cure it, I would look there.

There is a difference for sure. The LA blocks iron boss sticks out about 0.100" more than the Magnum blocks so the Mag plate will have a gap around the big circle on a LA block.

And the answer on the right angle adapter is NO plate!!!
