Hello from Vancouver B.C. Canada to my fellow Mopar Gearheads. Can anyone here tell me what would be the best doner car to find a manual steering box for my 65. I am going to install headers and I need the manual box to make it happen. Any help would be very appreciated.

Mopar or no car...

Why get a 200,000 mile used unit when you can just buy a rebuilt gearbox? It will cost you 200 dollars to rebuild a manual sterring box, at least in Dallas Texas.

True enough.. I guess I like to do things the hard way hahaha.. I will calll the local dealers and check the prices.. But things tend to be a little more money up here.

I think anything up to 1973 will work. At that time, they changed to a larger diameter Pitman arm. Many people look for a "faster ratio" box, say 16:1 vs the normal >20:1. Fewer turns lock-lock, but more effort. Might read up first. Used manual boxes usually sell for >$50 since in high demand.

Yup, anything prior to the large sector shaft changeover.

Typical is 26:1, "Nascar" is 20:1, "Road Race" is 16:1. They get harder to turn at low speed, parking, the lower the ratio. At speed they are all fine effortwise.
