I am getting a grocery list in my mind here about what its going to take to do a swap

73 A-body has manual steering now, so far I have a couple good running gear box cores and I am thinking I will get a new pump.

so far I have:

power steering column with shorter shaft.

A couple power steering gear box cores (one was running in a car a week ago but is greasy)

What I think I need:

pulleys

new pump

new brackets (bouchillon performance has them)

power steering lines.

Anything else or any problems I can expect?? I have never had an A-body with power steering before.

What kind of pump are you planning on? Saginaw? I'd alter it to lower the pressure if that's the case. Don't forget fluid!

You'll love power steering....What a treat IMO :D

73 uses the large sector steering box 73+ up & also a different pitman arm is used for PS vs manual

uh-oh ....how do I know if I have a large sector or I am assuming there is a small.

how does one identify??? :)

Measure with calipers on the shaft above the pitman arm. Large sector is 1.250

If this is on a small block, don't put the column in until you have the
exhaust manifold installed. We just went thru this on the 'Cuda.

And yes, you will love power steering!
