Marine version of the Poly 318 intake gasket.

-
Well the car gaskets have the rear blocked off also. No coolant goes into the rear of the intake, no passages there.

Thanks guys but it’s strange as most intake gaskets for Poly 318’s are shown with those rear water ports open. Only the Marine version has them blocked.

The "rear" coolant passages are not used, marine engine or not. The only reason there are ports in the back is to make the heads interchangeable from side to side.
Most (but not all, obviously) gaskets are open on both ends to make the gaskets interchangeable also, and/or to prevent some doofus from putting in the gaskets backwards and blocking the front crossover.
(Same deal on LA gaskets, BTW.)

Maybe the difference is between saltwater cooling or a closed system
