just wondering what a safe max rpm is for stock 7 blade clutch fan on a 340 . and is there any real benefit to adding an aluminum rad if the stock one keeps it cool

Because of clutch slippage and air load on the fan, it will tend to turn only just so fast. I would think 6000-6500 crank RPM is probably reasonable for short periods.

If the stock radiator keeps the engine cool then I wouldn't think there's any point in replacing it. Some might argue that the aluminum radiators are lighter, and perhaps they are until you fill them with water.

The clutch should disengage at higher rpm.

If your current radiator isn't having any problems, why do you want to spend unnecessary money to fix something that isn't a problem?

If you want to throw away money, I'll PM you my address....

I used a 7 blade on my 360 stock car with stock pulleys turning 7200 rpm for 45mins at a time for 5 years with to problems ,no loosing of the fan blades or stock water pump issues.

thanks I wont be to worried about winding it up now
