How do I measure for the drive shaft length I need from the tranny to the rear?

you need to put the yoke into the transmission housing, slide it out 1", measure from the center of the "U" joint to the center of the "U" joint on the rear axle.

Yes if you have the slip yoke.... BOTTOM it out, then pull it back 1" and measure CENTER to CENTER...
If you are not using that SY or have a SY , then measure from the seal on the trans to the center of joint in the end yoke at the rear.
Then let the shop that is doing it know if the tailshaft is past or before the seal and by how much...
ALL measurements at ride height.... not with the suspension hanging..
