Wish I recorded his words as everyone was walking to there cars to head to town for lunch, walking off the starting line Herb said I want to ride in that hot rod Plymouth! Oh man was I surprised! I heard some great stories around the big round table at lunch, and on my way there in Victoria, what a blessing of a day, I made it back home after 4 hours of fun and smile

What a day you had Mike!

But I do want to thank our members here that heard the news about this meeting before I knew anything about it, he has sold to his Son Mike Mc Candless , for there museum, thank you Keith ( @66340SEDAN
If it was not for him this meet would have never happened, because he was to be at the track at 11 am, Keith texted me and I shot out like a light and made it there at 11 thirty

I’m glad it worked out the way it did, I knew you lived close and are friends with the track owner, so I figured I’d send you a heads up. I was thinking maybe you would get to meet them but wow….driving Herb around and having lunch with them, hearing stories and spending a good part of the day with them….that sure was a treat!! Made my day to find out all this, everyone says Herb is one of the NICEST guys around and this just proves it!! :)

I've talked to Herb several times at car shows around NC. I don't know if the man has ever met a stranger....lol. To be the legend he is, he is nice to be around....and he is perfectly willing to share his knowledge with anyone. Last time I got to talk to him was at The Farmington NC car show. He rolled in with a 61 or 62, red Chrysler 300 letter car that he'd put a 5.7 Hemi in and was running the wheels off of it. Glad you got to meet him and spend some time with him Mike.

We talked about his 62 300, thank you

Very cool, @memike! I have had the honor and pleasure of speaking to Mr. McCandless over the telephone. What an absolute gentleman!
