Mini High Tourque Starters

Need some help Mopar people; Has anyone had issues installing a mini high tourque starter on a 67-88 318 engine. The mini starter I installed, the Bendix dose not engage the fly wheel approx 1/8 to 3/16 shorter than the original standard mopar starter dose. Dose not even engage half of the Bendix teeth and should engage about 3/4 of the teeth. any idea's.

There are at least three types of mini's, and at least three different sixes of flywheels.
I think a good start is for us to see or hear what you are working with.

Engine, trans and such.

Thanks for your come back. Built a 64 Barracuda has a 1988 318 police engine, 1967 flywheel, 1972 904 tranny. What a mix but that's what I'm working with.

That's a 1971 904 sorry
 
Should be the same starter the Ram 1500 5.2 truck takes then.

As far as I know all of them with the 5.2 or 5.9 magnum.
I got mine for my 318/904 when I had it before I changed engines and transmissions and am using the same one on my 5.9 Mag with a 42RH OD trans.
 
I use a starter for a 93 5.2 Dakota on my Dart.
