mini tub pictures

Hate to start this forum again but if any of you get this I messed up big time. In a state of hurry I ripped my old rear out of my 70 dart without taking any measurements before I put my 8 3/4 in. Do any of you have any measurements I can use to put the new one in? I am mini tubbing mine out as wall and relocating the leafs to the frame. Any help would be appreciated

What measurements do you need?

Well I took the old rear out from the leaf spring brackets and have not taken the leafs off yet. I don't know if I should of had Hub to hub measurements from the rear to the front or any other get the new one somewhere close.

Just insert a length of allthread through the stock front hanger brackets (bolted to stock location on the car) and the new relocation brackets. That will locate the rear assuming you're using the same length springs. You can adjust the hole up or down depending on if you want to raise to lower the rear ride height. Double check the pinion angle before striking an arc on the spring perches.

And what do you mean by "truck door brackets?"

Thank you it does help. I'll be finished with it tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what is the biggest size tires I can run under there and what offset on the wheels?
That I don't know. Mines still apart and going to body in a week.

Anybody else know tire sizes and wheel offset?

315/60/15s and 325/50/15s fit with minitub and spring relocation. Wheel offset depends on axle width. The cars I've built, I buy the wheels and tries first and build the rearend to fit. Too much backspace makes taking tires off and on a pain.

It's just an stock 8and 3/4 with strange axels and 456 gears

This is something that I've considered. I would like to keep the backspacing close to the front. I keep telling myself that I can disconnect the coilovers and drop the 4 link far enough to clear the fenders. I guess we'll see.

Considering a lot of folks run 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing with stock wheel tubs and offset springs, if you wanted to widen the tubs to the frame and run a 15x10 wheel, the extra 2" of wheel width would be on the inside giving you 6.5" backspace on a 15x10 wheel. Depending on how high or low your car sits, that amount of backspacing may make taking the wheels off a total pain. You really do need to mount up the rear and take some measurements though as every car is different. There are just way too many variables for you know with 100% certainty without getting your head under there and taking measurements. What brakes are your running? Even the difference in brake offset/standoff between SBB and BBP could throw things off.

What is the advantage to modifying the factory tubs vs using aftermarket? Sure seems like a lot less work to install aftermarket and would provide as much clearance as possible.

Kinda makes it look factory when you are done and 100 bucks saved is 100 bucks to go somewhere else

When mini tubing do you have to shorten the rear axel?

No.
I run the stock 52 5/8 width housing (A body 8.75) with the wider axle flange. (B body)
It's the custom offset for the wheels that makes it hard. I have 15x10 rims with 7 1/4 or 7 1/2 inch offset. Cant recall off the top of my head.
Plus I run disc brakes with 1/4 inch thick rotors which moves wheels out.

I did my own custom wheel offset
Home made 15 x 10 with 5 on 4 1/2 b.c. and dog dish hubcaps.
