In California, I’d like to raise my fuel octane from 91 to 93 (to prevent knocking) by adding pump Sunoco SS 100 (7 gal 91 octane/2 gal 100 octane). Carburetor/1967 440 engine. No catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, etc. Can this expensive racing fuel cause any damage? Just want to double-check. Sunoco Race Fuels

It’s safe. You can run it in just about anything. Unleaded so it won’t harm cats or o2 sensors. Usually if it’s available at a pump in California it’s safe for whatever vehicle you put it in.

Go to the local small airport and get 100 Av Gas. Most likely cheaper. 110 and 100 were both 10 bucks a gallon at Laguna Seca last week. A buddy that I help run a E36 BMW in Lucky Dog endurance racing has the thing tuned for 60/40 mix of 91/100 Av gas. Higher the octane the slow the gas burns thus reducing knock...

At street gas stations, yes. At the pump at race tracks, no.

When I lived in the Bay Area and worked at Sonoma / Sears Point raceway, my 03 Kawi ZX6R 636 was tuned for 96 as it was cheaper than the 91 off the street. Now I have to mix gas to bring the octane up..

~ a 67/33 mix of 91/100LL is what I run in all three cars.Easy mix as that's 5 gallons + 2.5 gallons.

I love the 100 LL but what a pain in the butt to drive all the way out to the small airport to get it 5 to 10 gallons at a time..
You can pour it on your hands in 5 minutes later you wouldn't even know you had it on you...

Yah.. I don't have that problem... since the "airport" is my home... or you can just buy more cans! LOL

Around here you can legally transport up to 55 gallons at a time without involving DOT.
Here is a pic of my storage tanks. 4 million gallons each :)

Blue plastic food grade 55 gallon drums. I got a bunch off of fakebook market for free. Just had to pick them up. Washing out the grease and done. Gas tank. The non-ethanol gas has a long shelf life. So if ya can’t use 55 gals in 6 months...

Ethanol gas sucks. We have a 2,000 gal tank and we loose about 9 gallons a month through evaporation. It also promotes the growth of that black algae around your gas filler cap.
