after hours of messing with the timing and changing out the points me and a buddy finally broke down and pulled the timing cover off. the timing chain was crazy loose and the cam sprocket had a couple of missing teeth. both sprockets were that plastic junk, which if i am not mistaken is what they used in the factory. we replaced both sprockets and the chain with a double roller setup and steel sprockets. got everything assembled and timed out best we could but when number one piston was at top dead center the rotorbug was pointing at number two cyl. turned out the distributor gear had jumped a couple of teeth, jumping it back was a major pain in the a$$! when i cranked it over it fired right up, thought that was pretty cool.

got me a donor car for the disc brake and big bolt pattern swap, it is a 74 dart swinger slant six auto. i will post a picture. i think i will steal some of the interior out of it as well, the back seat is perfect and so is the dash pad.

here are a couple of pictures of the driver side spindle and upper control arm while it was still on the swinger.

no that is not a crack in that left bolt hole, it is a string to a tag that says driver that way i wouldn't mix them up.lol

lower control arm pass. side of duster, right before i put upper control arm, spindle, rotor and caliper assembly on.

i am gettin ready to put a pic up of the upper control arm, spindle, rotor, caliper and pads installed. you will notice that there is no longer grass and gravel under the car. this is because i forgot to take the pic after i got it done, i was too excited to throw some wheels back on it and get it over to my buddies shop, where i remembered to take a pic.lol

here is the pass. side of duster everything from the dart cleaned up and installed. i went ahead and replaced the rotors, calipers, pads, bushings, wheel bearings and hose with new. figured had it down this far why not. but the upper control arm i blasted and painted, the caliper mount and spindle got the same treatment.

i know them quarters look horrible!!! lol i am going to put whole quarter replacements on this fall, plan on doing all metal work over the winter. for now i jus want to get it so i can drive it around and enjoy it a bit.

blew a freeze plug out, friend of mine said it was prolly already loose and with it sittin for so long before i got it and then us startin it up it prolly made it pop out. that is why i was so excited to get it on trailer and over to friend of mines shop, so we could pull motor and trans and check everything out.

here we are at buddy's shop, already pulled hood off and yanked radiator out. after that we called it a day because we put both the front and rear ends together before we could put it on trailer. i was pretty tuckered out after all that:sleepy5:.lol

wait a minute, just noticed that the radiator is still in in this pic. it must have been right after i took this pic that i pulled the radiator.
