wow you guys are realy loyal to mopars and that great i must be to a year ago i traded my harley for this duster it was an old drag car and needed to be brought back to life my bike was worth more than the car but i saw the posibilities so i took the loss for the last year i have dupmed every spare dime into i could somtimes being late on bills and the mortgage, fights with the wife and many other sacrafices, its all think about all day at work,as a kid i built models of ramchargers ,sox n martain cars the moparmissle and some of Dick Landys cars and read super stock magizine and dreamed of a mopar drag car, so you tell me if im a mopar guy , just got a little pissed off over the price of the aluminum heads and the machine work into them and was shocked at $1300.00 harland sharp rocker arms you would think with all this great drag racing history that the mopar aftermarket stuff would be more competitive in a month or so the thing will be ready to race and the financial burden will wear off and all will be good.

$1300.00 harland sharpe rockers???

always pay your bills before spending money on the car unless you want to sleep in the car or eat the seats for diinner...

How fast do you want to go?
I have seen the previous posts & all I see is complaining.
No ground work or plan layed out to what your goal is.
Do you really need a set of $1300.00 rocker gear, when a $400.00 set may get you to your goal.
I'm a family man as well & the first thing you do is take care of the family & bills!
If you don't have it in your budget to refurbish an outdated racecar, then maybe you ought to rethink your priororities.
I'm always put my family first & plan my budget for my race car.
Get a plan, & there is guys & gals on this forum to help you achieve your goal.
By the way, I'm one of those MOPAR or NO-CAR guys.

Congrats on being true to mopar but working and paying the bills to take care of your family are more important than a toy. I have been doing this hobby for many years and my bills/family come first. Don't get me wrong all i think about is cars, most any activity i do is car related stuff and every show i watch on tv has something to do with cars, i bleed 20w50, my wife has put up with this for 26 years.

thanks dude my daily driver is a 2003 ram1500 and my wife drives a 2010 jeep liberty and i have a car a cant mention here and for your protection you shouldnt mention you own a ford they may have you arrested LOL

The cost / benefit curve is skewed by age. You do need to take care of the family first , but I made decisions at 20 that benefited the car first because I had no family and could always get fed at my Mom's house.:D:D
I could B.S. with my land lord and pay the rent late........I never had that kind of latitude at any of the local speed shops. :burnout:

check it out, there are many, many members here that own all sorts of other makes and models, and i am no different. my wife drives a pontiac G6. the only muscle i will ever own is a mopar. it only becomes an issue with some when mopar is compared to chevy. this is an age old battle, and it always will be. apples to oranges. there are 50 chevy motors for every 20 chrysler motors, the demand for the BBC is 10 fold over the BBM. ive even heard chevrolet called "americas manufacturer" ... screw that, i love everything about mopar muscle regardless of cost, i was born into it. anyone can build a chevy motor for peanuts, but what fun is that ,everybody else already has one, they all look the same , mopar guys and gals are and always will be a special breed and outside the box

I was a Mopar only type of guy when I was younger. Now, not so much. My wife and I bought a Shelby GT500 last summer. This is an awesome car!

Anywho good luck with you car!!

i can tell you that when you come flying out of the gate calling a 440 a money eating pig , people here get defensive, because at one time or another, we all take criticism for owning and operating mopar muscle cars. its all good man, do what you do , and kick some chevy *** with that 440, there is more than enough potential with the SB and BB mopar. hell, turbo charge the damn thing.

Good luck dude, right, wrong or indifferent, alot people here are rabid mopar (including me lol). Build a beast and let us know how it goes.

Yea, that will scare him away. Posting pictures of a queer pedophile posing with a hemi. Gene Snow loved little boys!

seriously ? ****, that sucks (no pun intended) alrighty then , COLOR IT GONE

BEDFORD -- A legendary drag racer from Fort Worth has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from sexual assault accusations a boy made against him, officials said Wednesday. Gene "The Snowman" Snow pleaded guilty to injury to a child and accepted three years' probation, Tarrant County prosecutor Kimberly D'Avignon said. Snow, 69, was arrested in September after a 17-year-old went to Sheriff's Department investigators and said Snow had been molesting him since the fifth grade, had drugged him and paid him for sexual favors. Snow, who lives in Bedford, is listed on the National Hot Rod Association's Web site as one of the top 50 drivers in the organization's history.

10.00 @132 and im living the plan no help needed!

The last 440 that I did was in the 90's for my Super Street Duster.
It ran 10.60's @ 124 MPH.
let me show you how cheap I did this.
.060 over block
Stock 440-6 rotating assembly.
Crane roller 620 lift cam & Crane Ductile adjustable rockers.
1967 #915 head castings with 2.14 int. valves & 1.81 exh valves with the bowels cleaned up & the int & exh ports matched & deburred.
Mopar M1 intake with a 800CFM holley.
8" turbo action convertor with trans brake & a Dana 60 with a 4.88 gear set.
Now that a real simple combination installed in a 3150 LB car w/driver.
There was alot of aluminum headed rat motors that didn't run this good at the time.

Mike - His car's a little heavier I think. Factory brakes, steel cage, steel body, etc. Plus, I think the shop building it has had a little learning curve on the heads he's using - hence the added money and frustration. Just my opinion there but we've had some chats and I think that's what it is.

My Duster was all steel, except the frt bumper & hood.
Had the stock brakes as well.
When I had my car back-halved & the cage installed, I was suprised that the wieght didn't go up.
It weighed real close to it when I had a 340 in it.

I wish more people like you would speak up Mike.
I've seen many a car with massaged stock parts run 10's.
The right combination of well thought out and worked parts
will yield a monster.

Maybe it was the lack of punctuation in your original post that made everyone take it the wrong way? :toothy8:

Dave went up thru the woods with the dog you were not home. my car has lexan front and back glass fiberglass hood front bumper and the old sckool fabricator cut a lot of weight out ,engine bay is gutted, steel doors are gutted, trunk is tubed and gutted sheet metal dash this thing is bare bones i was told its 2800 i will take it to wille waste or desiato sandand gravel to weight it when its in race trim ,yes a little frustration with the heads but sometimes i over react i think eastwoods auto machine did me good the engine is going to come in at 8500 0r so i like working with them they are true professionals. time will tell if she runs good and holds up many people bash procomp stuff but no one actualy has run it ,i spoke to marks perfomance engines on ebay and he says the procomp rockers are awsome and not to listen to the malarky on the forums im going to run them for awhile and keep a close eye on them and judge for myself and i will be one of the only ones with a real experience no internet bs will change them this winter may use t&d will talk soon and Dave be carefull i saw a FORD truck in your yard thats life in pision LOL

Sorry I missed you. I didnt see the beer cans...lol. I didn't realize that work was all done. I guess my memory's starting to fade...lol. I don't think $8500 is far off as long as they deliver, and IMO, that's a "we'll see". They've done right by you before. My experiences have only been being brought in when things were not working.
Yeah, the F150 is my ex father inlaw's. I've got lots of history with it. It's only here for a power steering pump and he pays well...lol. Let me know when the engine's home! You're in the home stretch and the bills should get lighter after this one.
