The slant went 11.08 @ 119 mph and the Hellcat went 11.85 @ 125 mph
There was a decent turnout this year. Lots of cool cars! One of my favorites was a turbo slant Dart convertible. It wasn't super fast but it was really unique and had an old refrigerator door for a hood scoop.
Thanks for the info!
I CANNOT IMAGINE what you would have to do to a Hellcat to make it run AS
SLOW as 11.85; how many sparkplug wires did he disconnect?
On the other hand, that little slant six was haulin' the mail...... that is an amazingly fast naturally-aspirated car... just amazing!
I had my car all finished (FINALLY!) and was ready to load it on the trailer for its first-ever trip down the drag strip, and was looking forward to putting $75.00 of Mo Kan's money in my pocket just for showing up on the starting line with a turbo'd slant six, and maybe another $100.00 for the "long-distance" award (257 miles to Conway from the strip) and when my '93 Dakota 2wd truck (for towing the trailer) encountered wheelspin on the apparently, DRY GRASS in my side-yard, on level ground, it became patently clear that my trailer would not be going anywhere, last night... my backyard (where I keep my trailer,) was normal-looking enough, but when you stepped on it, it went "SQUISH" and was virtually, a disguised swamp. I tried for 2 hours to get that trailer out of there (IT IS VIRTUALLY LEVEL!) To no avail...
Dug deep ruts with wheelspin... in frustration. See pix... but, pay no attention to the dates on the pictures; that date/time setting is screwed up and I can't figure out how to set it.... it was all last night.
So, after FIVE YEARS of preparation, and having my race car ready for its maiden voyage (and having the potential of collecting some cash from Mo Kan,) I felt like crying... I didn't, but, I felt like it!!!
It's just been raining, and raining, and raining, here... but, you can't see it; it's all still, just below the surface.
I'd like to thank the management at MO Kan Dragway for their effort to attract slant six cars; I was very impressed with the incentives you offered, and this won't happen to me again, I assure you.
Thanks for all that you do!!
