I live in the area where all the flooding was. I'd heard about that car, and hadn't seen the pic until the other day. It was in what's called The River Arts District, which is right along the French Broad River. Prior to Helene, the worst flood in history was in 1916 when 2 tropical storms met in Asheville. One came from the Gulf and the other from the Atlantic. Helene's flood water crested 11' higher than the 1916 flood. My buddies machine shop is maybe a mile upriver from where this car probably was. He has built race engines for decades and has put many NASCAR drivers in the winners circle. Dale Earnhardt, David Pearson, Jack Ingram, Ricky Rudd, Robert Pressley and quite a few others. He lost everything he had, and says at 81 years old, he ain't gonna start over. I was very fortunate to have no flooding due to living on higher ground. All we had was a top of a Wild Cherry tree break out in the wind and bust the split rail fence at the end of our driveway.
Thanks for sharing, I live in Indiana but frequent Asheville often. It grieves me to see this devastation.I live in the area where all the flooding was.
