Mopars you should have purchased

I passed up several when I was stationed in Hawaii back in the early 80's

'69 Barracuda Fastback Mod Top $500
'70 R/T 440 4spd Challenger in "kit form" $500
'70 340 auto Challenger ragtop (rotten but all there) $1500
'67 SS396 Chevelle Ragtop 4spd $2500 and it was mint
'68 Firebird w/ a blown up 455 $3500, they had crack even back then.
'70 Charger 500 $1200
And I DID try to buy the following but as an E-4 the bank laughed at me
'66 Coronet R/T 426H auto Black on black he wanted $12k
'71 Hemi Cuda 'vert. White with red and blue stripes, Doug Nash 5spd. White guts I think he wanted $15k for it. Both of these were in Kahneoe up the hill from the base.

Various other parts of the world I found...

'64 Sport Fury 426W 4spd rag on Whidbey Island "gonna re-store it sum day"
2 '68 Barracuda's near Concrete Wa. Both Fastbacks
'46 Dodge Powerwagon becoming part of an irrigation ditch near NAS Lemoore. Another one near by who's owner I couldn't find.

Many more lurking in the back of my mind....all found when I had no money, was transfering soon or didn't have a place to keep 'em

70 b-5 blue plymouth duster 318 auto with imaculant body and black bucket seat interior with 340 stripes for $3000.00 only like 5 years back about a month after turning 15.

1968 Road Runner in 1987 for $2200. Basic stripped down, don't believe there were any options on the car. Needed an engine rebuild and a little rust repair. Would have had to sell my 74 Duster to get the money and didn't want to take the chance the roadrunner would be gone then be without either car, also my dad was just diagnosed with cancer at the time so cars were not at the top of my list.

My dad gave me a choice 5 yrs ago. Buy his 85 Toyota GTS or 70 dart 340. Both were mint. Dart had 40k original miles and GTS had 100k. My wife and I needed a good reliable daily driver so unfortunately the GTS won. He told me $500 for each just to me. I still cry about my decision. Guess where the GTS ended up, Junkyard.

Could have bought a 440 66 coronet 12 years ago for 1500 dollars and bought the same car 3 years ago for 3k Im still kicking myself.

Passed on a 440 console auto white superbird for $26,000 about 7-8 years ago. Complete car needing lower quarters. I thought it was more than I should be spending so I bought a 318 challenger instead. I just sold the challenger to my brother for what I had into it. Gee, think the bird would have panned out better financially??? Oh well, I did just get my first bird so I have no complaints (except the price lol.)

Passed on my brother's '70 440-6 'Cuda for $2,000 in 1980. We were both in college...he couldn't afford the gas and I couldn't afford the car. Bummer.

Around 1977 looked at a '70 Dart Swinger, 318, factory 3 spd manual on the floor, dark blue no vinyl top, black bench interior, 60,000 miles. Mint condition, perfect inside and out, ran perfect. Asking $700. I had $400 but my parents refused to give me the rest. It was sold the next day. I still bum about that to this day. Sucks to grow up in a poor family.

A year later looked at a '69 Road Runner, base model two door post, 100,000 miles, 383 4 spd, buckets no console, light beige with tan interior, very straight and rust free except behind the rear wheels the bottom 6 inches of metal was missing from rust on both sides. Asking $400 and it fired right up and ran flawlessly. I had the money but would not be able to get the car tagged with the missing metal behind the rear wheels and I had no clue how to get it fixed at the time so I passed. Never seen another one like it since.

Bought my '69 Barracuda in 1979 from the original owner so I didn't miss that one! Got it for $1,000 with 49,000 original miles.

1970 charger RT 5000.00 then went in the guys back yard and he had 2 1970 superbees 383 cars 1500.00 and 1800.00 all in very g00d shape
then a few years later fund a 1971 charger superbee 383 magnum pistl grip 4 speed 1300.00

'69 340 Dart, B5 blue with black vinyl top, B5 interior, all original down to the wheel covers, decent condition, not rusty. Asking price was $3K around 7-8 years ago.

DOH! ](*,)
